GETTING STARTED

Installing the base

Installing the handset

Before using the handset for the first time, we recommend that you charge the handset on the base station for 24 hours to optimize battery life and performance. It is completely normal for such batteries to become warm during charging. Only use rechargeable batteries with exactly the same specifications as those supplied with the product.

The use of non-rechargeable or unsuitable batteries may damage the product (see chapter "Technical specifications").

Getting to grips with your telephone

USING THE TELEPHONE

  • Making a call
  • Receiving a call
  • Using hands-free mode
  • Redialling one of the last numbers called (redial)
  • Adjusting the volume during a call
  • Secrecy function (turning off the microphone)
  • Displaying the call duration
  • Locating a handset (paging function)
  • Locking the keypad

There are 5 volume levels, as well as the option to turn off the ringer altogether, in which case "Volume Off" will appear and an icon will appear, representing two scratched notes. You can use the navigator to adjust the ear volume on the mobile phone during a call. Your correspondent can no longer hear you and you can talk to those around you confidentially.

YOUR PHONEBOOK

  • Creating a contact page
  • Associating a ringtone with a name
  • Using the phonebook to make a call
  • Modifying an entry
  • Deleting an entry
  • Copying the phonebook from a SIM card

You can insert a pause when you are dialing a number by pressing up and holding the navigation key. If you have received calls and subscribed to the relevant service, use the navigator to move through the list. You can copy the phonebook stored on your GSM phone's SIM card to the Twist 605's phonebook.

The SIM card reader is located on the front of the base of your Twist 605 phone. Entries are copied in the order they are stored on the SIM card. If your SIM card has a memory capacity of 50 names and numbers and is not full, Twist 605 will not copy "empty" entries to your SIM card.

Once the SIM card has been copied, you can edit or delete the copied entries just like any other entry stored on your Twist 605. The number of entries stored on your SIM card may exceed the number of free places in the phone's phonebook.

SENDING / RECEIVING TEXT MESSAGES (SMSs)

  • The SMS menu
  • Writing and sending SMS messages
  • Viewing the list of draft and/or sent messages (outbox)
  • Viewing the list of received messages
  • User accounts
  • Allocating an SMS terminal number
  • Activating and deactivating the SMS alert
  • What if the SMS memory is full ?
  • Service centres

To quickly move to the next letter, either press down on the navigator or wait for the cursor to move forward automatically. After writing a message, you can save it instead of sending it immediately. To receive SMS messages to your personal user account, you must provide your correspondents with the user account number, which they must add to your standard phone number (see "Receiving SMS messages to your personal user account").

To receive SMS messages on your personal user account, you must provide your user number to your correspondents. Your correspondents must add this user number to your phone number when they want to send SMS messages to your personal user account. You can choose between the personal user accounts created and the default user.

If you choose a "personal user account", the SMS will be sent with your default phone number plus the user account number. All SMS messages, regardless of whether they are from the main account or from a personal user account, are automatically saved in the outbox. If you have already created personal user accounts, your Twist 605 will not allow you to assign a terminal number that corresponds to an existing user number.

IDENTIFYING CALLERS

How to read the caller ID data

Consulting the missed calls list

Calls lists: memorising / deleting a call

If you have subscribed to Caller ID, but not to displaying the caller's name, you must enter a name before saving the information to the phonebook.

DIRECT ACCESS TO OPERATOR SERVICES

  • PhoneMail (1230)
  • Per-call caller ID block
  • Call forwarding
  • Belgacom services

This feature allows you to withhold your name and phone number when calling correspondents who have caller ID. With this feature, you can have your calls redirected to another landline or mobile number. To be able to use call forwarding, you must first subscribe to the service with Belgacom.

CUSTOMISING YOUR HANDSET

  • Setting the date and time
  • Using the alarm feature
  • Key beeps
  • Adjusting the volume
  • Selecting an internal/external ringtone
  • Changing the automatic pick-up settings
  • Naming a handset
  • Choosing the display language
  • Customising the display

Using the navigator, select one of 3 types of settings: Once, For every day or Off. You can also set the ring tone and ring volume for the base (see sections 8.1 and 8.2). This means that when you lift the receiver from the base to answer a call, you automatically pick up the line without having to press.

BASE SETTINGS

  • Choosing the ringtone
  • Adjusting the ringer volume
  • Selecting a base
  • Changing the PIN
  • Line settings

If you select "Automatic", the handset will automatically register to the base with the strongest signal. You should only change this parameter if you connect your Twist 605 to a PABX that requires a 250 ms cut-off.

USING YOUR TELEPHONE WITH MORE THAN ONE HANDSET

  • Adding a new handset
  • Uninstalling a handset
  • Using the intercom feature
  • Transferring an external call to another handset / shuttling between
  • Three-way conference (2 internal parties and one external)
  • Taking an external call during an internal communication
  • Setting the handset priority

This procedure must be performed on a different handset than the one you want to remove. You can talk to an internal and an external correspondent at the same time. When you are on the intercom with another handset, you can still receive external calls.

You can decide which station - the base station or one of its five possible handsets - will ring first on an incoming call. You can also set how many times the priority station will ring before others. If you select "Select handset" and confirm with "OK" by pressing the left menu key, you can then use the navigator to select the base station or one of the 5 handsets as the preferred station.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

If a problem arises, try this first: remove the batteries from all devices in your installation for about 1 minute; disconnect and then reconnect the power supply to the base; reinstall the batteries. You are out of base range or in an environment subject to interference.
