The three-year performance evaluation result is obtained according to the method and criteria defined in the ISCTE-IUL Teacher Performance Evaluation Regulations, defined in the above-mentioned order. CU whose examination results fall below the goals and objectives defined in the activity plan and other criteria set by the ISCTE-IUL governing bodies for education and learning are referred for improvement. The curriculum for the PhD in history, defense and international relations corresponds to the principles of the Bologna process, which has been announced nationally in Legislative Decree 74/2006. In the second and third years, PhD students engage in the preparation of an original thesis, specially designed for this purpose, appropriate to the branch of knowledge or expertise.

The doctoral program in History, Defense and International Relations was already subject to curricular revision which, without changing the structure and its foundations, allowed adaptation to the Bologna process and to the new internal rules of ISCTE-IUL. In the three core courses that exist in both semesters, professors stimulate the students' interest in research by adopting evaluation mechanisms that require the production of works that expressly involve the development of research skills. Then at the curricular unit Seminar for Project Preparation, also in the two semesters, students design and develop their research project leading to the development of the doctoral dissertation.

To explain the dynamic and unfinished nature of academic work in the fields of History, Defense and International Relations; To analyze in detail one or more specific periods of the human past or one or more specific topics in the field of Defense and International Relations; The assessment of this curricular unit is based on the preparation of two reports, which will be submitted at the end of the semester.

First draft of the thesis plan (oral presentation, with written summary), even preliminary and in the making (40%). LO1: To describe the expansion of the field of the history of international relations and the integration of new ones. PC1- The project of a dissertation on history, defense and international relations PC1.1- The definition of the object of study.

PC1.4- Documentary sources and methodologies PC1.5- Bibliography and state of the art. The teaching methodology of this curricular unit is based on the students' presentation of reports on the progress of their doctoral theses.

As can be seen from the analysis of the FUC, professors choose the learning methods that they consider most appropriate to achieve the defined learning objectives (OA). In the theoretical-practical classes to achieve the OA of the knowledge domain, the most common is to use exposition techniques, for the OA of the skill and competence domain, teachers use more oral presentations by the students. For other OA related to the skills and competencies domain, research papers are also used in the program's several seminars.

There is uniformity of the correlation between the number of credits and the hours of student work (1 ECTS credit = 25h total). The ways to ensure that there is such consistency are: FUK is filled before the start of school activities/year; approval/rejection of the FUK by the ECTS coordinator;. Both the information from continuous assessment as well as the final evaluation of the CU are taken into account when choosing assessment procedures either for the current year or for the next academic year.

Research centre(s) duly recognized in the main scientific field of the study cycle and its stamp. Taking into account only the professors who coordinate the courses of the study cycle, there were 67 publications relevant to the field of study in the period between 2008 and 2012. The scientific activities resulting from this study cycle (which are not a technological or artistic study cycle) have had a real impact on the development of the scientific fields to which they are linked.

Another professor of the study cycle is a member of the research team of the project "Monitoring Conflicts in the Horn of Africa", hosted at CEA-IUL and funded by FCT. Evaluation of the organization and content in the final of each doctoral program with professors and students; Adjustment of time schedules of the respective scientific activities to the availability of the PhD students.

Structural and cyclical conditions (domestic, as well as European and international) for the promotion and development of scientific research in the subject areas; Informal contact networks of subject professors are opportunities to establish protocols with international networks of scientific research work in the scientific fields of the study degree. The faculty of the two involved institutions complement each other in terms of knowledge in their specialties, which makes it possible to cover various scientific areas of the study cycle.

Study cycle professors are involved in research projects and facilitate the integration of students in the research units of ISCTE-IUL and CINAMIL-AM. Reduction in the number of publications in international journals, as book publishing remains the most widely used means of knowledge dissemination in the academic areas of the study cycle. Student involvement ensures a high success rate in the curricular units of the doctoral program.

Enrichment of specialized bibliography, depending on the resources available, in the libraries of the two institutions involved.
