Executive Summary
Collaboration with the University of California after ADVID's participation in the "62nd ASEV National Conference" (American Society of Oenology and Viticulture) in Monterey;. 6 9 An analysis of the indicators and their objectives defined in the Business Plan for 2011 shows that deviations have occurred in activities related to research and development projects, mainly due to the lack of new public funding arrangements.
Management Structure
Regarding the competitiveness of the Economic Aggregate, turnover fell by 5.4%, the value of exports fell by approximately 1.5%. However, we noted that "Production units modernized", measured by the number of farms that submitted applications under PRODER Measure 1.1 "Modernization and Empowerment of Companies" to the NSRF (SME Qualification) and RARRV (Vineyard Restructuring and Conversion Scheme) , greatly exceeded. the targets that have been set, therefore it is hoped that in the near future these investments, combined with investments made through applications submitted in terms of the Promotion outside the Union and other Promotion measures, will significantly increase the competitiveness of the Douro wine sector.

Conservation of the biodiversity of varieties (Douro, Távora and Varosa, Planalto Mirandês, Chaves and Valpaços) and Valpaços). Mobilization workshop, held in Régua, to consult the wine sector on the skills the sector is looking for in the labor market.
Financial Support for the Development of the Action Plan
This project is intended to promote employability in the Douro region through a better adaptation between the qualifications and skills offered by the education and training system and the needs and opportunities of the labor market, through vocational guidance for young people and through increased awareness of the assets. . During the application and analysis stage, after meetings with the Financial Services of DRAPN, we informed the Management Authority (by e-mail and letter) of the accounting limitations and the solution to the matter, which is to make contracts with each partner signed, to no avail. After approval of the AP, DRAPN withdrew due to accounting problems/impossibilities, which led to its cancellation by PRODER.
The project was launched and the survey of vines in the demarcated Douro region began in partnership with IVDP, funded by ADVID and IVDP. We intend to present it to SI IDT and/or SIAC, depending on the reformulation of the methodologies to be used in collaboration with companies and the University of Porto. 3 actions have been defined - "Continuous assessment of the technological state of the art of the wine sector in the demarcated Douro region", applying for financing under ON2 in Feb.

Dissemination, Communication and Training
Dissemination of knowledge and technology transfer
This workshop aimed to analyze the main events of the 2010 wine year and examine their influence on the characteristics and potential of the wines produced. Gregory Jones, from Southern Oregon University, who participates in studies of climate change impacts in the Douro region, this workshop was designed to present and discuss contributions supported by ongoing experiments at ADVID and UTAD, in the field of water relations of the vine. Guest speakers: José Freitas, director of the Douro warning station (DRAPN) and Cecília Rego, researcher (assistant at the Instituto Superior de Agronomia and the Veríssimo de Almeida laboratory). Photo 21 - Speakers at the event, presenting the results of investigations in the Region.
This workshop was intended to analyze the main events in the 2011 viticultural year and to debate the results with members and how these results complement the specific activities of the cluster's flagship projects.
Papers presented and/or published
Hill stability is also highly dependent on climate factors and in a situation of climate change, with an increase in extreme phenomena, it is important to help rationalize vineyards on slopes to reduce the effects of extreme weather, as in the events of 2001 and 2010. Of for this reason, this workshop was held under the flagship project "Rationalization of Hillside Vineyards", focusing on studies of specific cases in the Douro region and analysis of practical situations to encourage debate. In 2011, the IFAP developed an action plan for the Agricultural Parcel Identification System, so that it can be recognized as reliable by the European Community to ensure that all parcels and their land uses are correctly delineated in the Agricultural Parcel Identification System (application of the community's rules to all those covered by applications), and also limit any fines incurred by vintners.
In October, November and December, DAVID technical staff interpreted about 2375 packages, which took up a lot of extra work time that was not foreseen in the business plan.
Other Viticulture Services
- Support for Organic Production
- Application of base water potential for assessment of irrigation needs
- Potential yield prediction using the pollen method
- Assessment of variety and rootstock behaviour
- Control of the grapevine moth using the mating disruption method
- Study of the resistance of grapevine moth (Lobesia botrana) to the destemming and crushing process

- Ripening control
- Tannin Portal (ADVID/AWRI)
This activity monitored and collected data on the maturation and harvest characteristics of the scion/rootstock affinity block planted at Quinta da Cavadinha. The obtained results were the subject of extensive information at workshops, in professional publications and in reviews of the wine-growing year. Studying the resistance of vine moth (Lobesia botrana) to de-stalking and crushing process.
Evaluation of the effectiveness of treatments against grapevine oidium in the early stages of the growth cycle. At harvest, an assessment of attack frequency was made by recording the incidence and severity in bunches. On the same block, an assessment of the development of the diseases most important in the region was made, and this work was used to define the best treatment position according to meteorological data records.
Also in the field of ripening control services, a summary of the ripening of the reference varieties (Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca) was prepared as part of the Annual Review of the Viticulture Year.

Schultz presented an overview of the organizational structure of the GSHM – Forschungsanstalt and the functional links of the Center. In relation to botrytis, particularly notable is a study of the phenotypic characterization of strains in vitro and in situ, to assess virulence in the flock and resistance to pesticides. It should also be mentioned the cooperation in the "Wood Diseases" workshop and the provision of phenological data as well as the provision and validation of meteorological data.
It also had meetings with the director of this institution in February and September to present a status report and any restrictions on the development of the Douro region's wine cluster. In connection with the photo interpretation developed by ADVID, we also raised several questions to IFAP, particularly about the hillside vineyard block concept. PORVID – ADVID is founder and board member of PORVID (Portuguese Association for Grapevine Diversity), represented by António Graça.
We also attended the Casa do Douro Regional Councils through our President José Manso and the Douro Mission Structure Advisory Board through our General Director Rosa Amador.
