CALL FOR ONE SCIENTIFIC MANAGEMENT AND TECHNOLOGY FELLOWSHIP

The Portuguese Institute of International Relations, research Unit of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of the New University of Lisbon (FCSH-NOVA) offers one Scientific management and technology fellowship within the framework of the project EUEngage (www.euengage.eu), funded by the Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme, under the following conditions:

Scientific area: Political Science Requirements for applicants:

Essential :

- Undergraduate Degree in Political Science - Deep Knowledge of the EU institutions

- Native speaker – or equivalent level – in Portuguese - Excellent command of written and spoken English.

Desired:

- Post-graduation in EU studies

- Experience in project management and report/proposal writing

- Experience in conducting a survey on the attitudes of the members of national parliaments Activities to be developed: The trainee will monitor the project activities, including the management of IPRI’s responsibilities within the EU-ENGAGE project, the producton of deliverables if necessary and the reporting of the project whenever necessary. Additionally, the trainee will be conducting an Internet survey on the views of members of national parliaments In this context, the tasks also include stimulating the answers from MPs and circulating individual reminders LAPS staff; recruiting a small number of MPs for the deliberative online experiment with citizens to be organised in October 2016; and conducting, in case of low or unbalanced result of the on line survey a limited number of interviews. The number of interviews directly will not exceed 30% of the overall sample.

Legislation and rules: The rules applied will be those described in the FCT Regulation for

Research Studentships and Fellowships – 2015

Workplace: The grant holder will develop his/her activities in the IPRI, under the scientific supervision of Prof. Catherine Moury.

Grant duration: The position is for a term of 5 months, starting on August 1, 2016, not renewable.

Monthly stipend: The salary will be 1245,00 Euros (not taxed), according to the table of stipends granted directly by the FCT-Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (http://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores.phtml.en), and paid monthly by bank transfer.

Evaluation criteria: The applicants will be selected according to the following criteria: (a) Curriculum evaluation, taking into consideration the specific and preferred requirements, which will be valued between 0 and 5 points; (b) Optional interview, depending on the decision of the evaluation committee, also valued between 0 and 5 points. If an interview takes place, the weighting of each of the selection criteria is of 50 percent.

Composition of the evaluation committee:

Prof. Catherine Moury (IPRI-UNL) – Committee president;

Prof. Rui Branco (IPRI-UNL) – Committee member;

Prof. Ana Santos (IPRI-UNL) – Committee member;

Publication of results: Final results will be posted on IPRI’s webpage as a list of candidates ranked according to their final evaluation. The awarded applicant will be notified by e-mail.

Application period and required documents: The application period is open between June 21 and July 4 2016.
