A. compreender, analisar e problematizar a realidade social e cultural; B. apresentar opiniões fundamentadas
LEARNING OUTCOMES
(knowledge, aptitudes and skills to be developed by the students)
The aims of this UC are to promote habits of cultural consumption and attitudes of questioning about the surrounding environment, promoting diverse situations of cultural experiences and observation of social reality,
The seizure of the social and cultural reality can benefit from a pluralistic approach that integrates different disciplines, using various analytical tools and methodologies of work. Shaping the surrounding reality from a multifaceted approach allows the development of reflective capacity, stimulates critical thinking and promotes the aesthetic sense. By involving the subject areas of Portuguese Language, Mathematics and Social Sciences, and through the implementation of the design methodology of projects, at the end of this unit it is intended that students will be able to:
A. understand, analyse and discuss the social and cultural reality; B. build an integrated view of reality;
C. search, process, produce and disseminate information.

DEMONSTRATION OF THE SYLLABUS COHERENCE WITH THE CURRICULAR UNIT'S OBJECTIVES
The programmatic contents, which contribute to the development of a process for integrated analysis of social reality, are divided into two main components: (i) theoretical framework; (ii) design and
development projects.
The first approach to understanding, analysing and questioning social reality is held in A1, for understanding the process of development of scientific thought.
Regarding the second objective, it is achieved in work focused on different perspectives offered by each of the scientific areas: Social Sciences (A2), Mathematics (A3) and Portuguese (A4).
The third objective set refers to the B component of content giving priority to design methodology as a strategy to be followed in the construction of an integrated perspective of the social and cultural reality.

TEACHING METHODOLOGIES (INCLUDING EVALUATION) Teaching Method:

Individual reflection (face to face) (30%) Method of examination:
Is expected the delivery of a project (with a pre-defined script), followed by an oral discussion 48 hours later.
DEMONSTRATION OF THE COHERENCE BETWEEN THE TEACHING METHODOLOGIES AND THE LEARNING OUTCOMES:
In order to understand, analyse and discuss the social and cultural reality, oral presentation, reading and reflection should be preferred whenever possible stimulated with seminars open to guests from outside the school.
In order to build an integrated view on reality, in its theory part, it is desirable to mobilize scientific reference readings that offer a view on the totality of social reality. In its practical component, we need to develop methodologies that can include field trips and the design of projects and practical work. Research, process, produce and disseminate information implies, in turn, mobilize all previous approaches, from scientific literature review to design of projects. It’s also important the work performed outside the school (field trips, fieldwork).
