BACKGROUND

Sponsored by the 511 Contra Costa the Summer Bike Challenge provides Brentwood residents with a fun, free, and healthy summer recreational program that challenges them to explore their hometown via bicycle. The goal of this program is to demonstrate to participants that biking is a viable way to get around town. Participants use a Bingo-like card with a variety of destinations including public parks and school, the library, City Hall, and Downtown Brentwood, and the farmers market. Participation is free, making this program accessible to everyone. Incentive prizes are built into the challenge, and entry into a grand prize drawing open to everyone who completes at least twelve challenge squares.
