Alterações climáticas, o meio construído e arquitectura O homem, o meio construído e a natureza

Learning objectives (knowledge, skills and competences to be developed by students) The current CU will present, comprehensively, the phenomena and relationship between the Anthropocene, human activity and the human shaping of the environment. Inquiry processes and methodologies will be presented with the objective of assisting the student to relate his/her design decisions within the larger scope of human intervention and its broader impact on the
environment and society.
Syllabus

Climate change, built environment and architecture Men, built environment and nature
Nature and the city New directions
Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the curricular unit´s learning objectives The program reflects the objectives of the CU.
Teaching methodologies (including evaluation)
The class will incorporate a series of lectures focusing on the several program items. As a form of engagement, the students will elaborate and do further research on the items presented. The developed work will be based on a process of surveying, analysis, discussion and evaluation, conclusions and proposal. Each semester a specific theme will be presented as a case study. The evaluation will consist on a report/panels to be developed throughout the semester that will include periodic and final submittal.
An attendance of at least 80% is required.
Demonstration of the coherence between the Teaching methodologies and the learning outcomes
Firstly, the objective of the class is to give the student the awareness of the interconnection between human activity and the environment, with a focus on architecture. Secondly, the
objective is to provide the student with the tools and process to allow him/her to relate his design actions to its impacts, on a broader scale. Given these objectives, the format of lectures
complemented with a hands-on approach with the work developed by the student provides a coherent medium to attain the learning outcomes.
