Welcome To Holy Rosary Parish Dear Friends,

The readings last weekend for the Third Sunday of Lent were very appropriate for a discussion about the Sacrament of Reconciliation. We as Catholic Christians are called to participate in the sacrament at least once each year. Many choose to do so during the Season of Lent. Please note the following weekly opportunities for Individual Confession here at Holy Rosary:

Tuesday 5 pm - 5:30 pm, Wednesday 5 pm - 5:30 pm, & Saturday afternoon from 3 pm – 4 pm. Currently, confessions are held in the small conference room in the new Atrium Space.

Christ’s peace, Fr. Bernie

Queridos Amigos,

Bernie

U N I T E D C A R I N G S H E L T E R Holy Rosary Parish has partnered with United Caring Shelter to cook and serve on the 2nd Saturday of every month for lunch. It only requires 3 hours of your time.

I am looking to fill the spots for 2021 so please contact me via email: [email protected] or cell: 812-484- 4381 (preferred method) and I will fill you in on how you are able to serve the less fortunate in our communi- ty. Please note that if you would like to serve but are not sure you want to prepare the meal at the shelter, UCS is very receptive to meals being brought in and served by their staff. A sack lunch is always an option too if that would be something of interest. This shelter feeds those in need 3 times a day/ 365 days a year so the opportuni- ties to bless UCS is endless. I hope you will consider tak- ing a moment to think about this opportunity and commit.

Join us this Lent for a prayerful and peaceful vigil!

Invite a friend or two to walk and pray in front of Planned Parenthood for the 40 Days for Life. This campaign starts Wednesday, February 17th-Sunday,

March 28. Holy Rosary has been invited to walk on Thursday’s but you are welcome to walk anytime dur- ing the spring campaign. For more information, please contact Kim Engbers at [email protected] or Kathy Smith at [email protected]

Upcoming Pastoral Formation Workshops:

HOSPITALITY: CREATING A FOUNDATION FOR ENCOUNTERING CHRIST MARCH 25, 2021 9 AM – 12 NOON CT

(ONLINE ZOOM)

PRESENTER: SR. KATHRYN HUBER, OSB Hospitality is a core spiritual value in Christianity as well as in all world religions. It is from the open channels of our hearts that all hospitality is shown. Our model for hospitality is Jesus Christ. We will explore the gospels and the Rule of Benedict. Benedict’s chapter on hospital- ity is one of the best loved and most relevant to society beyond the monastery.

We will spend time on our personal experiences of hos- pitality received and hospitality given. How do we become Christ for others? What allows me to see Christ in others? Are they able to see Christ in me? How does my ministry, my parish become a welcoming space for others?

The workshop will have three presentations with Q and A, time for personal reflection, breakout sessions (three to a group), followed by large group sharing. There will be a brief break after each session.

Sister Kathryn Huber is a member of the Benedictine Sis- ters of Ferdinand, IN.

INTRODUCTION TO CENTERING PRAYER THURSDAY EVENING, APRIL 15, THROUGH FRIDAY,

APRIL 16

PRESENTER: SR. KATHY BILSKIE, OSB . Centering Prayer is designed to facilitate the develop- ment of contemplative prayer by preparing our faculties

to receive the gift of contemplation. Centering does not replace other kinds of prayer, but may cast a new depth

of meaning on all kinds of prayer. Students will gain fa- miliarity with the theory and practice of this form of

prayer.

Connecting with others: Emotional Intelligence FRIDAY, APRIL 30 via Zoom

PRESENTER: Jason Winkle, PhD

As Christians we are called to serve others. Imagine the impact we could have in our parishes, organizations, and world if we intentionally worked to grow our capacity to serve others while leading others to do the same.

Strong, Christ-centric leaders do just that—they are force multipliers! Great leaders grow great leaders by modeling the desired behaviors of the organization while building authentic relationships with their col- leagues and co-workers. The linchpin for connecting with others is a high emotional intelligence quotient (EQ). This workshop will examine leadership development through the lens of intentional EQ development of ourselves and others.

Stewardship food for thought:

Fourth Sunday of Lent Weekend of March 13/14, 2021 This weekend’s Gospel reading gives us the encounter between Jesus and Nicodemus, a Phari- see and leader of the Jews who comes to Jesus by night, recognizing Jesus as a teacher from God, but coming in secret for fear of being put out of the synagogue. Jesus rebukes him for his lack of under- standing. Good stewards realize that for the sake of this world, God gives his most cherished beloved son. And so they are willing to confess Jesus as their Lord and savior in a public way. They do not keep their faith to themselves, in darkness. The Gospel reading challenges us to profess our faith in word and deed publicly, not to hide it away. Are we will- ing to accept the Gospel’s challenge? Are we will- ing to get out of our personal “comfort zone” and confess our faith in Christ Jesus in an open, tangible way?
