PAHO AWARD FOR ADMINISTRATION
The XX Directing Council approved the amendments proposed by the Executive Committee to the procedure and criteria for making the PAHO Award for Administration, as set forth in Document CD20/9, Addendum I.
Paragraph 7 of the procedure stipulates that "30 days before the date of the opening of the first meeting of the Executive Committee each year, the Director of the Pan American Sanitary Bureau shall _end to the members of the Award Committee copies of the documentation submitted, so
that the Award Committee can meet and decide on the Award during the Meeting of the Executive Committee."
The Director has sent each of the members of the Award Committee copies of the documents submitted by the countries.

PAHO AWARD FOR ADMINISTRATION
REPORT OF THE PAHO ADMINISTRATION AWARD COMMITTEE
The Members of the Committee, Drs. Baltazar Caravedo, P. F.
Robert de Caires, and Rogelio Valladares, met on two occasions to examine the appraisals and observations received concerning the merits of the three candidates submitted by the Governments of Chile, E1 Salvador, and Peru: Dr. Carlos Montoya - Chile, Coordinator of the Maternal and Child Health Group of the Department of Public Health and Social Medicine of the University of Chile; Dr. Miguel Angel Oliva - E1 Salvador, Director of
the Western Health Region of E1 Salvador; Dr. Eduardo Zapata Salazar - Peru, Director of Personnel of the Ministry of Health. Two members of the com-mittee received the complete documentation on these candidates in due time,
and the third member requested additional time to enable him to examine the documents.
The members of the Award Committee finally met on Monday, 10 July 1972 at 10:45 a.m., and unanimously decided to award the 1972 PAHO Award for
Administration, to Dr. Eduardo Zapata Salazar of Peru for his work on the study, preparation, and implementation of a model of a personnel administra-tion system for the health sector in his country.
