MISTIC SEAS 2
Applying a sub regional coherent and coordinated approach to the monitoring
and assessment of Marine Biodiversity in Macaronesia for 2
nd
cycle of MSFD
•
Coordinate monitoring for Macaronesia sub region through development and setting up of joint monitoring programs;
•
Gather data needed to determine status of selected biodiversity components (marine mammals, sea turtles and
seabirds) at sub regional level using the common GES definitions and targets;
•
Define geographical assessment areas for Macaronesia, to provide basis for Art. 8 assessments, taking in account the
outcomes of MISTIC SEAS;
•
Re-evaluate progress of implementation of programme of measures, to deliver the report requested under MSFD Art. 18;
•
Update 2012 assessment (MSFD Art. 8) focused on the assessment of the descriptor 1, for 3 taxonomic groups (marine
mammals, seabirds and sea turtles), with special emphasis for current status of pressures and impacts, including trends
