PhD researcher working with mafic and ultramafic igneous layered intrusions and their associated mineralisations.

Main areas of research include metallogeny and exploration geology. Strong skills in the analysis and modelling of geochemical data (mineral chemistry, whole rock, XR or PIMA diffraction, stable and radiogenic isotopes, soil and stream geochemical data) for characterising petrogenetic and metallogenic processes.

Invited Professor at Faculdade Ciências, Universidade Lisboa (Portugal), since September 2009, lecturing crystallography, mineralogy and general geology.

Thesis entitled “Ore forming systems in the Western Compartment of the Beja Layered Gabbroic Sequence (Ossa Morena Zone Portugal)” under the supervision of José Manuel Urbano Munhá (retired Full Professor of the Geology Dep. ECHNICAL SKILLS

1. Analysis and numerical modelling of geochemical data for characterization of metallogenic and petrogenetic processes: whole rock, mineral chemistry, stable (oxygen and

sulphur) and radiogenic isotopic data (Sr-Nd-Pb and U/Pb geochronological dating). Besides of data processing using self-built routines in the excel environment (e.g. EPMA mineral formula recalculation and cation distribution, binary and ternary mixing, AFC processes, etc) is also a skilled user of the following software specifically designed for modelling of geological processes:

_Georient (treatment and projection of structural data; Holcombe, 2005).

_QUILF (thermodynamic modelling of intensive variables, Anderson et al, 1993).

_MODAN (estimating modal proportions on the basis of whole-rock data; Paktunk, 1998). _CRFRAC.9 (Fractional crystallization of sulphide-silicate melts, sulphur saturation, sulphide immiscibility, crystallization/differentiation of monosulphide melts in the S-Fe-Cu-Ni system; Munhá et al, 2007; see “publications”).

_MELTS (thermodynamic modeling of phase equilibria in magmatic systems; Ghiorso & Sack, 1995).

_COMAGMAT (Simulating equilibrium and fractional crystallization in igneous systems; Ariskin & Barmina, 2004).

_Thermocalc (limited proficiency in thermobarometry calculations; Holand & Powell, 1998;).
