Hello Everyone,
Thank you to all of you who have welcomed me. I am very excited to get started as the
new Center Director and I have lots of ideas that I would like to share as well as hear about
your ideas as we move forward together.
The staff and I hope to help make the Center a welcoming place to meet old friends and
make some new ones, learn a new skill, have a great experience, practice healthy aging,
enjoy lunch and put a smile on your face. We hope the Center will become a hub for
activities, special events, socializing, education and a place to come for information about
benefits and services, specifically geared to adults age 55+.
Stop by for a visit and to find out more.

Veterans Day
Veteran’s Day is a day for all Americans to thank our
veterans and service members for their sacrifices to
protect our country’s freedom.
Originally, Veterans Day was called “Armistice Day,”
and the date was chosen to commemorate the
signing of the armis!ce with Germany that ended
the hos!li!es of World War I. The armis!ce, signed
on November 11th, 1918, did not officially end that
war, however. That came on June 28th, 1919, with
the signing of the Treaty of Versailles. Since the U.S.
never signed the Treaty of Versailles, the November
11th armistice really did end the war for the U.S.
At first, the focus of Armis!ce Day was on the
vet-erans of World War I. Over !me, with the passing
away of the World War I generation and the coming
Today, Veterans Day is generally regarded as honoring
all those who served in the U.S. Armed Forces.
In 1938, Veterans Day, on November 11
th, became
a permanent, official public holiday. We wish to
thank all the Veterans, service members and their
families who have selflessly served and sacrificed
for our country.
Save the Date:
