This issue brings you aricles covering topics such as ethics, growth and sustainable development. There are interesing studies on the condiion of women and their social inclusion through professional qualiicaion, as well as the construcion of terri -tories and public spaces that preserve social diversity and are inclusive to ciizens. You will also ind aricles dealing with phi -losophy applied to organizaional studies and social movements that seek social jusice – including in the agribusiness sector. Most of the aricles have one concern in common: the struggle for social jusice in Brazil, which is also a great concern for us as editors of Cadernos EBAPE.BR.

While working on this ediion, we recalled Agenda 21, a document launched at the United Naions Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) held in Rio de Janeiro, 03-14 of June 1992. The event – known as the “Earth Summit” – was the deiniive landmark for the inclusion of the concept of sustainable development in government policies and gathered 175 countries and 102 heads of state and governments. The Earth Summit reinforced the relevance of sustainable development as a topic for scieniic research in several ields, including Administraion. The UNCED, through Agenda 21 – with its 40 chap -ters and 800 pages – set out fundamental deiniions and important goals that, ater almost 25 years, deserve to be reviewed in terms of what has actually been implemented and the challenges for the future. This issue of Cadernos EBAPE.BR gathers

studies connected to this relecion on Agenda 21, portraying the theme of the relaionship between environment and eco -nomy and others such as climate, energy, water, technology, internaional trade, poverty and populaion.

Agenda 21 is divided into four secions::

a. social and economic dimensions – internaional policies directed toward combaing poverty and social inequaliies, making sustainable development possible;

b. conservaion and management of resources for development – protecing the environment for future generaions; c. strengthening the role of major groups – with atenion to nonproit organizaions;

d. means of implementaion – in order to guarantee inancial and legal condiions, so that sustainable development programs can actually be implemented.

Ater 25 years of the Earth Summit, much remains to be done. Scieniic studies on social responsibility and sustainable deve -lopment are fundamental, as well as themes such as social inclusion, diversity, social jusice, sustainable innovaion, ight against poverty and human rights – all of them relevant in the ield of Administraion. Speciically in this ield, criical studies are essenial to analyze the contradicions present in public and business policies, comparing what is announced and what is actually achieved.

It is worthwhile menioning here some of the organizaions that have contributed to the themes brought by this issue of Cadernos EBAPE.BR. The Brazilian Insitute of Social and Economic Analysis (IBASE), was created in 1981 (among its founders is the sociologist and acivist Herbert de Souza, ‘Beinho’). It is a non-proit, nonreligious, nonparisan orga -nizaion, with the mission of deepening democracy, according to principles of equality, freedom, ciizen paricipaion, diversity and solidarity. IBASE was one of the irst organizaions to widely disseminate the importance of these issues within Brazilian society.

Business people have also had important paricipaion in disseminaing these themes in Brazil, by maintaining and enga -ging in iniiaives such as the Ethos Insitute of Business and Social Responsibility, an organizaion that aims to contribute to the awareness of companies within the principles of social responsibility.

Finally, in the ield of public administraion, the creaion of the Special Secretariat for Human Rights, the Ministry of Women, Racial Equality, Youth, and Human Rights aims to ensure respect for religious diversity and the rights of minoriies. Thus, regardless of any poliical connecion, whether on the iniiaive of researchers and ciizens, government agencies, or business people, the themes related to social jusice are gaining increasing importance in Brazilian society.

Scieniic journals, consistent with their commitment to ensure publicaions and visibility to relevant research in areas such as the ones menioned here, should promote democraic debate and disseminate the results obtained in serious and criical studies.

It is frequent the criicism that scholars oten write and are read only within academia. In order to address this issue and include non-researchers and non-scholars in the debates, several events in the ield of public and business administraion present the so called “pracice report”, in which professionals with relevant experience in a given sector present their professional work, debate it and publish. This ediion of Cadernos EBAPE.BR is consistent with this trend and brings up some pracice reports, always aware of promoing that the subject of academic research is socially relevant.

We invite you to appreciate the aricles of this issue, relecing on the themes that represent our hope for social jusice and a beter society. We wish you a pleasant read,

The challenges of embodiment in academic research, Maria Tereza Flores-Pereira, Eduardo Davel and Dóris Dornelles de Almeida, explores, discusses and maps the challenges of corporality in research methodology, using qualitaive research. The authors observe in their research on corporality that ethnography is the methodological approach preferred by those who research the subject.

The scieniic ield of administraion: an analysis from the circle of theoreical matrices of Elinaldo Leal Santos Presents an examinaion of the epistemological bases of knowledge in the ield of business administraion. The author, using the concept of ‘circle of epistemic matrices’, conceived by Paes de Paula (2015), develops his analysis based on three matri -ces of knowledge (Orthodox Studies, Organizaional Studies and Criical Studies), describing their history and highlighing the need for reposiioning and re-signiicaion of the scieniic object in Business Administraion.

Outsourcing as knowledge Management Strategy the author Pedro Jácome de Moura Jr. proposes, through the theore -ical approach of the resource-based irm, a conceptual research model in which it explores and describes to what extent managers would choose for the implementaion and conducion of knowledge management in their organizaion through outsourcing, knowing the diiculies of this acivity using only their own resources. This aricle draws on the literature on knowledge management and outsourcing, highlighing points of intersecion between these themes. In addiion, the ari -cle proposes a model for pracical applicaion in companies that want to improve their knowledge management pracices. Professional ethics and accouning students: analysis of the intervening variables, Alexandre André Feil, Liciane Diehl and Rogério José Schuck aims to evaluate and understand accountancy students’ percepions of professional ethics, con -sidering the intervening variables related to individual factors. The results indicate that the characterisics of the indivi -duals (which difer in relaion to the existence of more ethical and signiicant aitudes) are: they are female students, up to 25 years of age, non-religious, who work in the inancial/accouning area, with academic maturity and educaion on ethic. Educaion on ethics has been crucial in inspiring ethical behavior among accouning students.

Niklas Luhmann neosystemic theory and the noion of communicaive autopoiesis in organizaional studies, Josep Pont Vidal presents the theory of Niklas Luhmann and discusses his concepts in relaion to other authors of poststructuralist social philosophy, paricularly analyzing aspects related to communicaion and language. The author also conceptualizes and discusses the idea of relexive autopoiesis in Luhmann’s works, an approach that is not discussed in organizaional theory within the area of Administraion.

Individual and contextual predictors of entrepreneurial intenion among undergraduates: a literature review the authors Aleciane da Silva Moreira Ferreira, Elisabeth Loiola and Sônia Maria Guedes Gondim ideniies in empirical studies the main individual and contextual predictors of entrepreneurial intent among university students. The authors used the theory of planned behavior, taking into account the aitude of each student to develop their own business. They carried out research on the main naional and internaional journals of the areas of entrepreneurship, psychology, organizaions and administraion and on SciELO database, from 2004 to 2015. Based on the results, they propose a research agenda in the area of entrepreneurship.

Drawing resistance: counter-hegemony and aestheic expressions of the agro-ecological movement in Brazil, Flávia Neves and Yuna Reis discusses several social movements, especially the agroecological movement, which has been cons -ituted as a means of resistance to the hegemony of agribusiness in Brazil. The study establishes an unconvenional – in this ield – theoreical-empirical “bridge” between studies in aestheics and the Neo-Gramscian discourse approach deve -loped by Laclau and Moufe. Thus, in the light of the concepts of aestheics and the Neo-Gramscian discourse analysis on hegemony and antagonism, this aricle studies how aestheic expressions inluence the construcion of counter-he -gemony in the Brazilian agroecological movement.

mixed-economy electric power generaion companies listed on the São Paulo Stock Exchange’s Corporate Sustainability Index, as well as news media reports discussing sustainable development and the Triple Botom Line model. The aricle carried out an analysis of the ideologies in place and their contradicions and social implicaions.

Creaive Economy and Used Territories: a debate based on the contribuions of Milton Santos, Lisiane Closs and Sidinei Rocha de Oliveira explores the naional and internaional literature on creaive spaces, highlighing the theoreical con -tribuions of Milton Santos on territories and his con-tribuions to the theme. The study highlights the potenial of the discussions held to assist in the planning of public policies aimed at the development of creaive territories that integrate social inclusion, sustainability, innovaion and cultural diversity.

The poliical discourse on the professional qualiicaion of disadvantaged women: emancipaion or hegemony?, the authors Elisabete Corcei and Maria das Dores Saraiva de Loreto analyzes the logic, assumpions and beliefs present in the context of the Thousand Women Program, verifying its contribuion to the social construcion of the professional roles assigned to disadvantaged women. The results showed that the poliical discourse and the elements of the policy design of the Thousand Women Program, based on social construcions and insituional cultures, promote qualiica -ions in tradiionally female areas with limited emancipaion of women. The aricle concludes that there is a contradic -ion between the program’s discourse and its actual pracice, because it reiterates the logic that maintains hegemony and gender polarizaion.
