RESOLUTION

CD14.R10

REPORT OF PAHO ACTIVITIES IN SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC

DEVELOPMENT

THE 14th DIRECTING COUNCIL,

Having considered the report of the Director on the activities of the Pan American Sanitary Bureau

in economic and social development (Document CD14/10); 1 and

Considering the importance of these activities for the progress of the people of Latin America,

RESOLVES

1. To approve the report of the Director on the activities of the Pan American Sanitary Bureau in

economic and social development (Document CD14/10).

2. To recommend that the Director make the necessary arrangements with the Governments to

ensure that health programs are fully incorporated in the planning and executing of national

development programs.

3. To recommend that the Director cooperate with other interested agencies, both national and

international, private and official, at the national and the international level, for the purpose of

4. To recommend that the Director take whatever steps are necessary to enable the Bureau to

cooperate more actively with the Organization of American States, and in particular with the

Inter-American Economic and Social Council, in order to ensure that full consideration is given to health

in the preparation and review of national development plans.

5. To recommend that the Director continue to cooperate with the Inter-American Economic and

Social Council in the work of Committee VI, on Health, Housing, and Community Development,

and in other aspects of the implementation of the Charter of Punta del Este with respect to health.

6. To recommend that the Governments include a representative of the ministries of health in

national delegations to the meetings of the Inter-American Economic and Social Council at the

expert and the ministerial level that carry out the annual review of the program of the Alliance for

Progress.
