Resumo
A indústria têxtil, tem conhecido ao longo dos últimos anos, evolução extraordinariamente grande; o aparecimento de novas famílias de fibras sintéticas e inorgânicas, conduziu este sector para um estado em que a engenharia e a investigação e Desenvolvimento, são factores fundamentais para o seu desenvolvimento, sucesso e reposicionamento numa época de dificuldade.
Estes novos materiais fibrosos, encontram-se numa fase crucial de desenvolvimento, prevendo-se que venham a contribuir muito significativamente para a revolução dos materiais do século XXI; pelo facto, destes se poderem orientar para outros domínios de aplicação, que vão para além da indumentária corrente ou têxteis lar, a produtos têxteis de alta tecnologia, com a capacidade de responder a diferentes solicitações.
1.1 Campo de Pesquisa/Justificação
O presente trabalho, partiu da constatação de que os conhecimentos e o domínio que o sector têxtil e do vestuário português, bem como os designers, têm destas realidades, são praticamente nulos. Houve, consequentemente, todo o interesse em tratar e difundir este tema, como forma de se perspectivar, noutros moldes, o sector têxtil.
O desenvolvimento de um novo domínio de intervenção têxtil, como é o dos Têxteis Técnicos e Inteligentes, faz prever que no futuro, estes terão grande impacto no que respeita às prestações de serviço e de design.
Os Têxteis Técnicos e Inteligentes, é um subsector dos têxteis, que merece nesta tese especial enfoque, dado ao seu tremendo potencial em termos de materiais e conceitos.
Aqui, serão desenvolvidos alguns temas, que pela sua actualidade e inovação foram considerados importantes para este campo; passando por um registo de vários tipos de lógica de design aplicados a diferentes produtos, em que propriedades específicas, estruturais levaram ao design do produto. Daí o título desta tese, “Tramas que o design tece”; em que o design é encarado como, sendo um valor “tecido”, segundo um enredo ou uma metodologia projectual; em que estruturas de tecidos, neste caso, vão dar origem a um produto de Design (título de tese sob conotado, possuindo um subtítulo que esclarece o assunto específico da tese).
Aqui é de grande importância a exploração da qualidade dos tecidos, em regime de utilização/performance; pois a qualidade total do projecto, a apresentar em defesa de tese, é determinada e estabelecida pela qualidade de pesquisa. Metodologia que compreende parâmetros técnicos, económicos, estéticos e temporais, justificativos para a sua integração em projecto final. 1.2 Objectivos da Investigação
- Caracterizar, em sentido genérico, a indústria têxtil portuguesa;
- Analisar as principais envolventes externas e internas que condicionam positivamente e negativamente o avanço tecnológico;
- Identificar o papel do designer, nas estruturas empresariais;
- Analisar percursos da matéria até à quebra da entidade física dos materiais; como é o caso dos têxteis criativos (matéria da invenção);
- Estudo/ pesquisa dos novos materiais; - Identificar produtos e serviços;
- Examinar a projecção futura dos têxteis técnicos e inteligentes; - Proporcionar novas ideias, a nível destes materiais;
- Desenhar uma linha de produtos baseados nos novos produtos têxteis. 1.3 Metodologia e Estrutura do trabalho
O presente trabalho divide-se, fundamentalmente, em três grandes blocos: 1° Introdução
Enquadramento da indústria têxtil nacional.
Apresentação de algumas temáticas que têm vindo a moldar as actividades nacionais e internacionais da indústria têxtil; capazes de diagnosticar falhas e apontar novos rumos para ITV nacional.
2° Análise Documentação específica.
Análise da evolução da matéria e divulgação de práticas aplicadas ao processo têxtil, que ajudam a promover sistemas de qualidade e melhorias de desempenho dos materiais, bem como, novas perspectivas de acção para o sector têxtil. Passando por um registo de produtos que estão a tecer a futuro da ITV.
3º Planeamento Projectual
Com base na informação recolhida, na análise funcional das fibras e tecidos da nova geração, pensamentos correlativos, permitem passar a fase criativa. Nesta fase, serão desenvolvidos, dois tipos de projectos; um de carácter ideológico/ futurista (que promove ao máximo a utilização dos têxteis técnicos/funcionais e inteligentes) e outro de carácter conceptual/concreto, segundo as necessidades dos consumidores (projecto sob o aprovisionamento, da empresa António Almeida & Filhos, Lda., que se prontificou, a estabelecer parceria nesta investigação).
A intenção da realização destes dois tipos de projectos, é a de desencadear implementar uma nova visão ao sector têxtil; em que, a transmissão da informação recolhida, neste trabalho de investigação, e divulgado pelo grau de inovação e desempenho dos produtos, apresentados em projecto final.
1.4 Conclusões
As conclusões que são possíveis retirar da generalidade dos artigos, aqui abordados, e que aqui importa realçar, prende-se com a importância de Portugal, vir a integrar uma política específica, no sector têxtil, sob a pena de perder uma grande oportunidade de transição da indústria tradicional, menos competitiva, para uma indústria de valor acrescentado.
Em reacção ao diagnóstico realizado, este subsector dos têxteis, das fibras tecnológicas, representa o que há de mais inovador e descomprometido na produção têxtil dos nossos dias. São fibras que nos oferecem novas oportunidades de pesquisa/utilização, potenciando serviços envolventes, que funcionam como ancora e pólo de criação e disseminação de um novo conhecimento.
A inovação é um factor chave nas economias modernas e, consequentemente, nos sectores têxtil e do vestuário (STV) nacionais. Urge inovar “mais” e “melhor”.
Abstract
Over the last few years the textile industry has undergone major developments which have led to the appearance of new families of synthetic and inorganic fibres. These new developments have meant that engineering and Investigation and Development have become fundamental factors in the development, success and repositioning of the textile industry in a time of crisis.
These new fibrous materials are in a crucial phase of development as it is foreseen that they will come to contribute very significantly to the revolution of materials in the 21st century. These materials could eventually be used in other fields out with the current domain of textiles and household linen, into the domain of high technology, with the capacity to respond to different needs.
1.1 Field of Research /Justification
The present work has taken as its starting point the idea that the knowledge and the, capacity of the Portuguese textile and fashion industry faced with these new products, as well as the designers, is practically zero. This being the case, it is of great interest to expand on and expound this theme with a view to developing the future of the textile industry along these lines.
The development of a new domain of textile intervention, such as Technical and Intelligent Textiles leads us to understand that, in the future, these will have a great impact on both the service offered by the textile sector and design.
Technical and Intelligent Textiles is a subsection of textiles that deserves, in this thesis, special focus given its tremendous potential in terms of materials and concepts.
Here, some themes will be developed, which are considered important in this field due to their innovation and the fact that they are on the cutting edge and a list of several types of design logic
applied to different products which have been created using specific r a structural properties is presented.
Hence the title of this thesis - “ Plots that the Design Weaves “; in which the design is a seen as a being a “woven” value encompassed in the project methodology and in which the structure of the textiles in this case, gives rise to a design product (the title of the thesis mentioned above which has a sub-title explaining the specific subject of the thesis).
Here it is of great importance to explore the quality of the fabrics and their performance as the overall quality of the project to be defended in my thesis is determined and based on the quality of the research. The methodological parameters used are technical, economic, aesthetic and temporal. 1.2 Objectives of the Investigation
- to characterize, in a generic sense, the Portuguese textile industry;
- to analyse the main external and internal factors that condition both positively and negatively the technological progress;
- to identify the role of the designer, in the managerial set-up
- to analyse the development of matter to the point of physical properties of material, as is the case in invented or creative textiles
- research into the new materials - to identify products and services;
- to examine the future projection of Technical and Intelligent textiles - to provide new ideas based on these materials;
- to design a line of products based on these new textile products. 1.3 Methodology and the Structure of the thesis
This work can be divided, fundamentally, into three principal parts: 1st-Introduction
Description of the national textile industry
Presentation of some themes which have moulded the national and international activities of the textile industry and a diagnosis of flaws and mistakes made while suggesting new directions for the national textile industry (ITV)
2nd-Analysis
Specific Documentation
Analysis of the evolution of the matter and disclosure of the practice applied to the textile process which helps to promote quality systems and to better the performance of the materials as well as plans
of action for the textile industry. Here a register of products which are weaving the future of the fashion and textile industry (ITV) is included.
3rd-planning of Future projects
Based on the information gathered, the functional analysis of the new generation of fabrics and correlative thoughts, the creative stage is reached.
In this phase two types of project are developed: one is futurist/ideological in character (promoting, to the maximum, the use of technical, functional and intelligent textiles) and the other is conceptual/ concrete in character taking into account the needs of the consumer. The latter project is being done in conjunction with Antonio Almeida & Sons who agreed to be partners in this investigation.
The aim of these two types of project is to introduce a new vision to the textile sector. This new vision envisages the transmission of the information gathered in this investigative work due to the degree of innovation and the performance of the products presented in the final project.
1.4 Conclusions
The conclusions that can be reached from the generality of the points mentioned in this thesis and which need to be emphasised are related to the fact that Portugal must make moves to integrate a specific policy in its textile sector. If it fails to do so it will lose a great opportunity to change from having a less competitive traditional industry to having, one which would be of great value.
It can be seen from the diagnosis carried out here that the subsector of textiles which technological fibres represents is the most innovative and multi functional of all present day textile production. These fibres offer us new opportunities for research and use, potentially opening up related services which will function as an anchor and creative nucleus disseminating new information/knowledge.
Innovation is a key factor in modern economies and hence in the textile and fashion sector (STV). It is imperative that there be more and better innovation.
