Here we present the second issue of Audiology – Communication Research journal for 2014.

It is with great pleasure and pride that we address you, our readers, because, since last issue, we had the opportunity to participate in three scientific meetings of our field, and in all of them our speeches on the journal were followed by praises regarding its punctuality, efficiency and seriousness. We know a lot of people have cooperated to that, specially our associated editors and reviewers, and also the Speech, Language and Hearing therapist in charge, Érica Ferraz. To every one of you we send one more time, our acknowledgement and appreciation.

However, we still have our biggest challenge ahead: the search for improving this periodic indexing to databases like MEDLINE and ISI.

This is the first ACR issue to which we have requested the authors to send a certification of translation from Portuguese to English. But even with such requirement, still was not possible to reach our aim of unifying and standardizing the language in the English version of our articles. Each translation service has professionals acting with their own form and particularities, producing quite diverse translation styles, which frequently does not meet the current needs of the journal.

We have been trying to formalize an agreement with a large translation business to make them responsible for the English version of all ACR articles. This will most certainly bring advantages to both the journal and the authors. Not only the translation cost will be lower in comparison to what each author would pay individually, but also will allow us to guarantee the language uniformity in all articles to be published.

We are certain that every article will be fully appreciated by our readers, and we reinforce our efforts to continue this journal excellence, requesting everyone’s collaboration – authors and reviewers – to meet the agreed deadlines, which is essential for us to keep our SciELO indexing and increase our chances of getting indexed by MEDLINE.
