Dear Lord Jesus and Mary, Mother of God, hold all these brave souls in the palm of your hand; comfort them and their families. Send angels of protection, love, and comfort to all the service men and women still at war, bring them home safely and comfort their families. We ask this through Christ, Our Lord. Amen.

The recently law passed in the state of New York allow- ing for unrestricted abortion for the full nine months of pregnancy has cast a bright light on the real effects of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision on abortion.

Take Five for Faith When to be a quitter

In playground rhetoric, a quitter is among the worst things to be. Even in adulthood, none of us wishes to cultivate a reputation for not following through on projects and promises. But sometimes it’s good to quit, as any nicotine addict, alcoholic, or gambler will attest. How do we judge “when to hold ’em, and when to fold ’em”? Jesus promotes fruitfulness as the most reliable measure of an effort’s viability. Holding on to a fruitless situation that does not respond to herculean efforts toward cultivation is a waste of life’s soil. Contemplate what to preserve and what to prune.

Divine Mercy Sunday

To all of the St. Perpetua Parish family and beyond:

On Divine Mercy Sunday, April 8, 2018, one can ob- tain a plenary indulgence for either oneself or a de- ceased relative or friend. To do so, please join Dea- con Bob after the 9:30 a.m. Mass; he will lead the prayer devotions in the presence of the Blessed Sacra- ment reserved in the Tabernacle. To qualify for the plenary indulgence through this devotional prayer, one must be in the state of grace, receive communion and also participate in the Sacrament of Reconcilia- tion within 20 days prior to or after Divine Mercy Sunday.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

Deacon Bob
