FIRST REPORT OF THE COIMITTEE ON CREDENTIALS
The Committee on Credentials, appointed in accordance with Article
22 of the Rules and Procedures of the Directing Council and composed of
Dr. Manuel A. Sinchez Vigil (Nicaragua), Mr. Howard B. Calderwood (United
States of America), and Dr. Daniel Orellana (Venezuela), met on 17 September
1956, Dr. Orellana was elected Chairman and Rapporteur.
The credentials of the representatives, alternates, and advisers
of the following countries were examined and declared accepted: Argentina,
Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, E1l Salvador,
France, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, Netherlands, Nicaragua, Peru,
United Kingdom, United States of America, and Venezuela.
The Committee was informed that the following intergovernmental
and nongovernmental organizations have designated observers to the IX
Meeting of the Directing Council of the Pan American Sanitary Organization,
VIII Meeting of the Regional Committee of the World Health Organization:
Organization of American States; United Nations Technical Assistance Board;
United Nations International Children's Fund (UNICEF); International
Association for the Prevention of Blindness; International League against

Red Cross Societies; Pan American Medical Confederation; Rockefeller
Foundation; World Medical Association; World Union O.S.E. (Child Relief
and Health Protection of Jewish Populations).
The Committee on Credentials will meet later to examine the
creden-tials of the representatives of those governments from which credencreden-tials
directing council
