Take Five

for

Faith

What do you see?

When the light is right, usually around dusk, the glass on a train acts as both a window and a mirror. Depend- ing upon where you focus your eyes as a passenger, you can see either the relatively motionless interior of the car or the scenery outside passing by in a blur. This

“double vision” reflects the duality of time and your human experience. There is the unchanging, eternal now where God resides and the rush of encounters and experiences in which you usually live. Just as passen- gers on the train can choose which side of the window to observe, you also have that same choice in your daily life. Where will you focus your attention today?

So what is Daughters of Isabella all about?

What do they actually do? Pray? Help out the Knights of Columbus and other parish groups? Or is it a social club?

Yes, all of the above, but in the past few months they have also visited the elderly at Lourdes Senor Com- munity nursing home in Waterford to offer friendship to the elderly and lead them in making crafts...organized an Easter Egg Hunt for 75 children of the parish...provided gifts for the parish first communi- cants and confirmandi...visited Ronald McDonald House in Detroit to bring meals to the families of children un- dergoing long-term hospital treatments… and just re- cently hosted the 8th Annual Debbie Gajda Ladies Luncheon and participated in the May Crowning of Mary.

And on the agenda? The Carol Boylan Respect for Life Diaper Drive on May 19/20...a special breakfast May 20th for High School Graduates who belong to St.

Perpetua.

The Daughters hope to launch a pillowcase minis- try to create colorful pillowcases to show some love to the residents of Oakland County’s Children Village.

And as always...they help support the parish fall festival...a crafts bazaar...a Christmas party for the women of St. Perpetua. They also present an Advent by Candlelight event and adopt a needy family for Christ- mas and hold Euchre Tournaments.

Would you like to participate? Women of the par- ish of any age are welcome and encouraged. You can participate as much or as little as your schedule, inter- ests and energy allow. For more information, please contact Regent Kathy Huey at 248-674-1918 or libleaf@aol.com, or stop by the next D of I meeting.

Wednesday, June 6th at 7 p.m.

Don’t wonder how you can better serve, come join us and use the talents God gave you!
