MOTION OF THE REPRESF_TATIVES .OFNIC_P__GUA AND URUGUAY

During its 46th Meeting the Executive Committee, at the proposal of the Representatives of Uruguay and Nicaragua, approved the following Resolution:

RESOLUTION XVII

"The Executive Committee,

Bearing in mind the increases in the basic salary scales

of professional staff members recently introduced by the United Nations, the World Health Organization, the Pan American Health Organization, and other international agencies;

Considering that the Executive Committee in the course of the present meeting approved a salary increase for the Deputy Director and the Assistant Director of the Pan American Sanitary _areau;

Bearing in mind that the salary of the Director of the Pan American Sanitary Bureau has undergone no change whatsoever since it was established more than ten years ago and that it would be only fair to raise it to a level commensurate with the position and responsibility of the highest officer of the Pan American Health Organization; and

Considering that professional staff members of international agencies receive, in addition to their basic salary, post adjust-ment, cost of living, and family and other allowances_

Following the decision of the Executive Committee, the

Fifteenth World Health Assembly approved Resolution IV i/ establishing the salary of the Director-General and Resolution V 2/ _'stablishing the salaries of the Deputy Director-General, Assistant D[rectors-Geners/

and Regional Directors at a level corresponding to the increase approved for all professional staff.

This resolution is transmitted to the Pan American Sanitary Conference for whatever action it deems appropriate.
