FR. RON’S RAMBLINGS
July Fourth weekend and summer is here – but what happened to the sunshine? Someone told me last weekend I would have to publish instructions on how to build an ark! As I write this on Monday morning the rain falls softly all around and Sam asks to be toweled off after his walk! And he is certainly back to his rou-tine.
I finally met Fr. Peter when I returned from vacation and am enjoying his Irish delightful-ness! It is good to have him here and to have some company (other than Sam and Emma!). He has said how warm and welcoming every-one has been to him. He will be with us until July 15.
Fr. Bob is doing well on his own. He is not ready to go back to his own parish, but he is driving and getting around independently. He is doing outpatient physical therapy and hopes to return to his parish part time in a couple of weeks.
As we celebrate Independence Day this weekend, it is a good reminder to pray for our country and all the goodness that it stands for. This has been a difficult year economically and we all continue to struggle with the fall out. But we continue to be a very fortunate people for the freedom and the values which our con-stitution upholds.
That theme of freedom is one which also runs throughout the whole of the Bible. Moses great mission in life was to lead the Israelite people from the slavery of Egypt to the free-dom of the Promised Land; and the Book of Exodus is the chronicling of the journey through the desert, with all its ups and downs. This journey of course is symbolic of the jour-ney each of us is on – a jourjour-ney from the slav-ery of sin and death to the freedom of salvation in the promised land of heaven.
This weekend let us pray for those who re-main in bondage: physically, emotionally, and spiritually; and let us ask God to bring them all into the freedom, of the sons and daughters of God.
PONDERAÇÕES DO PADRE RON

Thank You!
Collection : $ 5,781.00
Next week’s second collection supports programs for the Black and Native American populations. Proceeds from this collection are distributed as grants to dioceses supporting and strengthening evangelization pro-grams, which would otherwise be in danger of disap-pearing among the Black, American Indians, Eskimo, and Aleut communities of the United States.

Religious Education
Registration for our Religious Education program
continues throughout the summer for all new and current students in grades 1 thru 12. Information on the program is available on the parish website, along with registration forms and class schedules. Registration forms and schedules are also avail-able at the back of the upper church. Be sure to
register early (by July 31st) to receive the $10
dis-count.
Additional session for grades 1 - 5 on Sunday
mornings: In an effort to reduce expenses in the parish, we will not use the grammar school build-ing this year. The cost to heat this old buildbuild-ing for a few hours of use each week is too much for our already strained budget. Also, the use of addi-tional classrooms in the high school building still leaves us short of space for all 29 classes that we needed last year. Therefore, we will add a second session for grades 1 thru 5 on Sunday mornings from 11:30 to 12:30, following the 10:30 a.m. Mass. If you would like to switch to the second session on Sundays, please be sure to indicate it on the registration form.

SUMMER HEAT MESSAGEThis message is for each and every parishioner but in particular for the senior members of our parish. It is very important during the summer months to keep ourselves hydrated and cool and to wear loose fit-ting clothing especially on the hot and humid days. When you are coming to Mass during our hot spells it is important to remember to drink some fluids be-forehand, especially those people who take high blood pressure medication. Please refrain from drinking caffeinated beverages as they cause us to loose more fluid not retain it. If you are adversely affected by heat and humidity please stay at home where it is cooler. Remember that our church gets very warm and even though we have fans in use there are times they are not adequate enough to keep the air flowing and us cool....trust me God would rather you stay healthy and cool than be overcome by the heat and humidity in a crowded church. Stay cool and have a great summer.

Obrigado.

a sobreviver.

thSunday in Ordinary Time
Have you ever stopped to consider all of the people who have done something for you that makes your life
bet-ter? Parents, relatives, friends, neighbors, teachers, pastors, nuns, and strangers have helped us along the way.
From them we learned life skills and life lessons that serve us all through life, everything from catechism to
math, from tying our shoes to writing our résumé. We owe others so much for our success. So how do you say
thanks?
We can express our appreciation in so many ways. A written note, a conversation, or a small gift can
acknowl-edge someone’s gift to us and offer thanks for his or her generosity. That assumes we know who they are, or
can remember what they have done. But others have worked anonymously, or helped us at a time when we did
not realize how good they were to us. So, the best way to express our thanks is to pass on the gift we have
re-ceived. By teaching or helping or mentoring someone else, we honor those who have made a difference in our
life, enabling their generosity to continue influencing and helping others. Be grateful for all that you have
re-ceived and pass it on!

ARE YOU THINKING ABOUT BECOMING A CATHOLIC?
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults at St Michael Parish is a ongoing process of formation
specifically for people who are thinking about joining the Catholic Church.
Through a process of inquiry, learning, prayer and reflection offered a period of time, one learns
what it means to become a Catholic Christian, and is then able to make an informed choice. If
you have been thinking about becoming Catholic, perhaps now is a good time to explore the
possibility. If you would like more information, contact Sheila Mahoney at 978-562-3148 or
Carmen Giombetti, Pastoral Associate at 978 562-2552 x310.
