Twenty years after the World Diabetes Congress in Japan, the Western Pacific is once again in the global health spotlight and that is why we chose Melbourne to host the World Diabetes Congress in 2013. Today, more than a third of all people with diabetes are found in the Western Pacific Pacific. Melbourne's location also makes the conference easily accessible to delegates from China and India, the two countries with the highest rates of diabetes in the world.
More than 350 speakers and 70 exhibitors will be given a platform to showcase their diabetes expertise, research and breakthroughs in the field of diabetes. Diabetes Australia has already engaged political leaders and senior bureaucrats on the ground to highlight the importance of this event. Their local support was extremely useful and appreciated in the organization of the congress. It is hoped that the World Diabetes Congress in Melbourne will raise awareness of the diabetes epidemic in the region.
We also believe it will illuminate existing work on prevention and care that is underway in Australia and the Western Pacific region. The Melbourne World Diabetes Congress will be held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Center (MCEC), Melbourne, Australia from Monday 2 to Friday 6 December 2013. A safe, welcoming and inviting city, Melbourne boasts the largest concentration of Australia's top convention facilities located in the central business district.
CME certificates will be available to print in the registration area and online from Thursday 5 December 2013.
Correspondence
Satellite symposia are part of a convention that has been approved for CME, so they do not receive separate approval for CME credits from the EACCME. They are considered part of the entire meeting program and are therefore covered by the congress CME.
