The Tampere Chamber of Commerce is one of the main business organizations in the Tampere region. The case study aimed to develop the international services of the Tampere Chamber of Commerce to provide better services to internationals living in the Tampere region. The findings indicate that the Tampere Chamber of Commerce should start moving towards more international events.

Since its establishment in 1918, the Tampere Chamber of Commerce has been one of the leading factors in the development of the city of Tampere. Most of the training and events offered by the Tampere Chamber of Commerce have a cost, but there are also free events. Tampere Chamber of Commerce is part of some of these projects, for example International Talent Hub.

Tampere Chamber of Commerce stated that they strive to become more international and hope to be able to offer better services for the international people.

In addition to the Finland Chamber of Commerce, there are 19 Chambers of Commerce across Finland. For example, Ostrobothnia Chamber of Commerce offers some trainings in Swedish language due to the high demand in the area. If a customer in Tampere region asks for training in Swedish language, Tampere Chamber of Commerce helps to contact another Chamber of Commerce that has training in Swedish language.

These agencies usually offer services of their specialties, for example the Finnish Tax Administration is specialized in taxes.

The needs and desires of member companies as well as external participants are listened to and taken into account in the planning process. Finnish customs provides advice on specialist topics such as import, export and storage. The management consultancy offered is targeted at individual sectors to provide the right information to clients in need. The website of the Center for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment presents the events offered.

The online trainings are free and audience can attend the training in real time or watch it later from a link found on the Tax Administration website.

Internationalization is stated in the strategy of the city of Tampere, as they try to promote an attractive force. Its aim is to make Finland an attractive country for international talent, to facilitate international recruitment for employers and to promote the growth and internationalization of Finnish organizations through the diversity of their talent. Tampere Chamber of Commerce, City of Tampere, University of Tampere and Tampere Region Te-Office are key organizations in the project.

The object of International HUB Tampere is to become a contact center for international companies and experts by creating a service platform in the Tampere region to support companies in finding suitable talent and conducting international recruitment. Study and Stay – the program aims to increase work-life links for international students and develop language and career services. The objective of the program is to provide a reason for local learned talents to stay in Tampere rather than move elsewhere.

The responses from the interviews were edited to suit the purpose of this thesis, focusing on different aspects of the internationalization of the services of the Tampere Chamber of Commerce.

Honest answers are easier to collect because the respondents are interacting with the interviewer throughout the period. The body language of the interviewees gives the interviewer the opportunity to analyze the answers and ask follow-up questions if necessary.

The results are thoroughly analyzed in the same chapter and the client can optimize its services based on a focus on results. Interviews with international talents shared similar thoughts on current issues in the international community. This helped him get off to a good start, but a stronger social network would have helped even more in the beginning.

He mentions JCI United as one of the better organizations to get to know other like-minded people in the area of ​​the Tampere region. JCI United has been a great platform for meeting new people in the Tampere area for many of its members. Enrique Montano said that there were forums and such offered to fresh new residents of the area in the Tampere region and if you were not able to attend, all the information given could be found online.

Montano also states that it is not difficult for an international to network with other internationals in the area. In the near future, the city of Tampere plans to add more work-based immigration. Finding reasons to stay in the city of Tampere and continue your career here is the key to success with foreign residents.

Lê, Kutschke and Montano all agreed that a concrete international home would have helped them at the start of their time in Tampere. The program aims to ensure that the spouses of international talents in the area become actors of their own success. The actions that the city of Tampere has done together with other organizations are sending in the right direction to help international people in the region.

Training on the current economic situation in the region and networking skills would be a good start for international talents to understand more about the local culture. Christian Kutschke had similar thoughts on the subject, citing skills development training as another great topic for new residents to the area. In Tampere, language has been the main problem for the internationals trying to network with the locals in the area.

The city wants to give its residents a clear reason to stay, and they have several plans that provide more opportunities for international talent in the city, and the plans also attract new internationals to come.

Talents are mentored by an individual and introduced to the local work culture. The Tampere Chamber of Commerce could encourage companies as a whole to connect with international talent in the area to introduce them to the culture of working in the city and in their own company. By connecting talents with several different companies, their professional network expands to a greater size than an individual mentor could provide.

The topic had to be shredded into smaller parts to find suitable sources, but good planning before the actual writing process made it a little easier. Having not-so-good experiences in writing projects in the past affected motivation, especially at the beginning. After starting the process and understanding my own goals, the writing part was completed quite smoothly.

Write anything that comes to mind and then edit the text to make it clearer to the reader. I learned from the process that writing an academic paper isn't as bad as it sounds. Learning to interview and gain concrete experience as an interviewer, analyzing the data received and finding credible material from different databases is something I learned during the process and look back on with great pleasure.
