Summary of the project

VTT studied the European value chain of printed media to evaluate how it sees the future options The results from the interviews combined with the expert views on the technological development were processed

27 industry experts from 19 companies were interviewed

Printing houses and printing press, ink, plate and blanket suppliers

Also sector associations were interviewed

Project report is published in the VTT’s internet

Conclusions of the study

The future of printing is challenging in the Europe

Everybody has to find they own visions how to stay in the business also in the future

Technology is not the bottleneck effective utilization of proven technologies

Importance of the service element increase in added value, customer satisfaction and profits

Partnering with different players in the value chain innovation of the new win-win
