The master's thesis examines the issue of the circular economy and the effects it has on both the design and production of packaging. This thesis focuses in particular on the study of the circular economy, the institutional framework that promotes the circular economy at the national and European level, as well as the measures related to the circular economy. In the following, the role that packaging plays in the life of a modern person and the impact of the circular economy on it are examined in detail.
Special mention is made of the concepts of materials recovery, reuse, composting and recycling. The methodology used in this work is a bibliographic search in international scientific databases, with an emphasis on scientific journals and related books related to circular economy issues. In addition, relevant studies related to the discussed issue and information from the web are used in order to approach the contemporary aspects of the issue.
From this study, it was found that the use of the circular economy is expected to expand greatly in the coming years and affect all human activities. Packaging is expected to make a significant contribution to the transition to a circular economy by encouraging more and more circular economy practices such as reuse, re-use, composting and recycling, with the ultimate goal of creating more sustainable packaging.
