Abstract This work assessed the concurrent and face validity of the MacArthur scale, which at- tempts to capture subjective social status in soci- ety, neighborhood and work contexts. The study population comprised a convenience sample made up of 159 adult participants of the ELSA-Brasil cohort study conducted in Minas Gerais between 2012 and 2014. The analysis was conducted drawing on Conceptual Metaphor Theory and us- ing corpus linguistic methods. Concurrent validity was shown to be moderate for the society ladder (Kappaw = 0.55) and good for the neighborhood (Kappaw = 0.60) and work (Kappaw = 0,67) lad- ders. Face validity indicated that the MacArthur scale really captures subjective social status across indicators of socioeconomic position, thus con- firming that it is a valuable tool for the study of social inequalities in health Brazil.

Abstract This article presents a historical anal-

ysis of work management and education in the healthcare field over the three decades since the creation of Brazil’s Unified Health System (SUS, acronym in Portuguese). Using the sociology of professions as a frame of reference, it address- es the following topics: the health labor market; trends in healthcare employment; the healthcare workforce; and the regulation and dynamics of undergraduate programs in the health field. It an- alyzes each of the moments that characterize the area, from the pre-SUS period to the present day. The period has witnessed the following: a boom in health schools, largely in the private sector; an overall increase in the level of education of health professionals , an increase in regional inequity; an alarming increase in distance learning programs; an imbalance between labor supply and demand; the expansion of installed capacity; the munici- palization of health employment; an increased focus on multiprofessional teams; and an increase in precarious work and informal contractual rela- tionships and deterioration of pay levels. Key words Unified Health System, Work man- agement, Education, Labor market

Abstract: This work presents an algorithm for solving exactly a scheduling problem with identical

As the network flow model presented on the previous sections does not provide an optimal solution to the problem, we developed an integer programming approach to solve the problem. In this section we present the developed model. The proposed formulation is based on time indexed variables. This kind of variables was first used to solve scheduling problems by Sousa et al. (1992). In this context, we use the binary variables x ijt which takes the value 1 if task j is

Abstract: This work aims at carrying out a survey and description of students’ participation

Abstract: This work aims at carrying out a survey and description of students’ participation policies in schools, in addition to identifying methods for the implementation of these policies and reflecting on how School Psychology can contribute to the development of these proposals. It articulates the contributions of the dialogical education defended by Paulo Freire and the assumptions of the German Critical Psychology in order to build a framework for psychologists in schools and thus help them strengthen and promote the autonomy of the subjects. The data sources for this documental study were the educational plans of the federal, state and municipal levels and the school charter of the city of Campinas, Brazil. The results showed that, despite the existence of specific laws that deem students’ participation necessary for democratic management, the implementation of these practices still needs to find ways to come about. With that in mind, we reflected on how psychologists’ actions in schools can strengthen participatory spaces and thus develop capabilities like dialogue, negotiation and non-violent resolution of daily problems.

Abstract This paper analyzes the illegal trade in misoprostol, the medication predominantly used for abortion in Brazil. The study analyzed ten cases that came to the attention of the Public Pros- ecution Service for the Federal District between 2004 and 2010. The cases were organized into three categories: 1. women’s stories; 2. profile of the vendors; 3. maternal mortality cases. The re- search was reviewed by an ethics committee. The main outcomes were: 1. young women in steady relationships use misoprostol in the home or with the assistance of drug vendors. Of the seven wom- en indicted, three were reported on arrival at the public hospital to finalize abortion; 2. the drug vendors work at the community drugstore and are local agents for the sale of misoprostol. They instruct women on how to use the drug and how to prevent infections, but refuse to provide them with care in case of emergency. Traffickers oper- ate via the internet and have a larger inventory of drugs; 3. there were two cases of maternal mor- tality due to the combination of high risk meth- ods, such as a vaginal probe and misoprostol. The main causes for maternal mortality are the delay in seeking medical care, as the women fear crim- inal prosecution, and the combined use of miso- prostol with high risk methods.

Abstract This study compares the challenges

Abstract This study compares the challenges for work in emergency services of publicuniver- sity hospitals in Algeria, Brazil and France. The description and analysis are organized in three topics: context and trajectory of the health sys- tems; hospitals and emergency services; and the challenges that are faced. The research carried out interviews, surveys, observation and “groupes de rencontre du travail” / GRT. The data analysis was done using participatory appraisal techniques associated to triangulation of sources and data. The main challenges found were: workforce defi- cit; lack of hospitals beds in inpatient units; deficit of infrastructure and materials; excess of “chrono- phagic activities”; generational transition; and vi- olence by patients and families.Despite their par- ticularities, the countries coincide regarding the challenges. Measures to rationalize and restrain spending have a greater impact on Algeria and Brazil due to the low level of public funding, but they also occur in France. The hospital manage- ment cannot be dissociated from healthcare sys- tem planningconsidering the increasing pressures of the demographic and epidemiological transi- tion. In medium term, measures that may mit- igate “chronophagic activities”, materials deficit and the violence should be considered to improve work in emergencies.

ments on humanization of professionals and users of a health care and research institution. Inter- views were conducted with 16 professionals and 44 users. The analytical method employed was the Discourse of the Collective Subject, the results of which were discussed based on the theoretical framework presented, which includes the Theory of communicative action of Habermas and rec- ognized authors in the public health area. The findings point to the importance of the set of hard, light-hard and light technologies for humanized practice. The articulation role played by com- municative action was highlighted both for the creation of a network of professionals and in the relationship between professionals and patients. The practice of research was considered by pro- fessionals and users as a factor that increases the quality of care and contributes to humanization. Care at the institute was considered good, both by practitioners and users, who emphasized the importance of problem resolution for humaniza- tion. The professionals highlighted the working conditions and the autonomy of professionals and patients, with the appreciation of each person’s knowledge. The intersectoral work revealed itself to be an important challenge for the Brazilian Health System (SUS).

tution, which states that health, and therefore health workers, are public goods. Major positive changes in policy culminated in the creation of the Department of Management of Work and Education in Healthcare (Secretaria de Gestão do Trabalho e da Educação na Saúde – SGTES) with- in the Ministry of Health in 2003. During this period a framework for the planning and devel- opment of the SUS workforce was developed en- compassing the following policies and measures: the National Policy for Continuing Education in Healthcare; Aprender SUS (learn SUS); Projeto Vivências e Estágios na Realidade do SUS- VER- SUS(the experiences and internships in the real- ity of the SUS project); Pró-Saúde (pro health); PET Saúde; Telessaúde; UNASUS; reactivation of the National Negotiating Table; Programa de Desprecarização do Trabalho no SUS (the “dep- recarisation” of work in the SUS program); the Chamber of Labor Regulation; the National Pol- icy for the Promotion of SUS Workers’ Health; Programa de Qualificação e Estruturação da Gestão do Trabalho e da Educação no SUS– Pro- geSUS (program for enhancing and structuring the management of work and education in the SUS);and the Mercosur Permanent Health Work Forum. More recently, in 2013, the Programa Mais Médicos (more doctors program) was cre- ated, providing doctors for remote and isolated areas across the country, thus improving access to health services in these areas.

stress effect was higher in Carioca than in EMGOPA-201 (Table 2). As a consequence, Carioca was more affected at eight days than EMGOPA-201, with a sharp decrease in nodule fresh weight (loss of 60%) and very low levels of nitrogenase activity. Shoot and nodule dry weights of EMGOPA-201 were not affected by stress, but nitrogenase activity de- creased sharply, mainly at eight days of water stress. Root nodules from both cultivars which were watered had several layers of cells in the lenticels (Figure 1a). The outer cortex had approximately two layers of large and compacted cells with deposits of dark-staining material in the intercellular spaces. Cells were progressively smaller from the middle and inner cortex; there were 1-2 layers of small and interlock- ing cells, which are analogous to the boundary layer, described by Parsons & Day (1990) for soybean. Few electron-transparent inclusions, presumably po- ly- β-hydroxybutyrate (PHB), could be seen in the

The fields of journals that addressed the subject were psycho- logy (32.9%) followed by public health (27.9%) and nursing (27.6%). Of the researchers, 46.8% work with the feminist theoretical line discourse, whose gender approach is asymmetrical. They mostly produce qualitative research with a sample consisting of women only (81.1%), and 78.3% collected data from violence victims’ support ser- vices. When looking at the characteristics of the studies conducted by researchers from the theore- tical line of family sociologists who advocate gen- der symmetry (25.3%), qualitative and quantita- tive approaches were used in similar proportions. Bidirectional violence was identified in 80% of this research. We noted a strong leadership of the feminist theoretical line, which was identified in the discourses of the researchers. We stress the re- levance of the discussion of the data with different theoretical frameworks, since analysis in isolation, regardless of the field, runs the risk of being biased and thus weaken the results.

Thus, whatever the “traditional” devices of the agency of the CI in a given field of practices, all of them have been deeply modified by the ad- vent of the electronic communication network. The establishment of a worldwide computer net- work on a planetary scale that has managed or intermediated practically all aspects of our ex- istence has caused a profound cultural transfor- mation, largely due to increased and intensified possibilities of collective sharing and production of unprecedented knowledge, characterizing an authentic “sharing culture” – an expression used here in a purposely inaccurate and ambiguous meaning, to designate both a certain collective compulsion to share the most varied records of its existence through different forms of social media, and the fact that, regardless of any will- ingness to share, almost everything that happens (to us) leaves some virtually-readily shared-re- cord.

Abstract - This work aimed to evaluate the physicochemical characteristics of different orange

The experiment was conducted in an experimental orchard of the “Agência Goiana de Assistência Técnica, Extensão Rural e Pesquisa Agropecuária – EMATER”, located in the municipality of Anápolis, central region of Goiás, under coordinates 16°19’S and 48°18’W, with average altitude of 980 m a.s.l. The climate of the region is Aw type, hot and humid with six months of dry winter, according to the Köppen and Geiger classification (1928). The soil is classified as Eutrophic Red Latosol. The orchard was planted on October 29, 2009, at 7 x 6 m spacing, under conventional management system and use of additional irrigation in the dry periods. Irrigation was performed by micro sprinkler (40 to 50 mm of water per plant per day). Annually, cleaning pruning is performed after harvesting. In addition, cultivars are grafted on ‘Rangpur’ lime and fertilization adopted recommendations of the IAC 100 Bulletin for citriculture.

Abstract-- This research work aims to contribute to the development of a bio-binder for use at the paving industry, from the modification of a petroleum based asphalt by the sap of Euphorbia Tirucalli (Petroleum Plant). Thus, a base asphalt (PG 64-28) was modified with 3%, 5% e 10%, by weight, of sap of the petroleum plant. The functional groups present in the sap were characterized by Fourier Transformed Infrared Spectroscopy. The parameters chosen for the analysis of the modified binders were the empirical characteristics (softening point, penetration); the rheological behavior (Brookfield viscosity, complex module, phase angle); and the effects of oxidative aging (all the properties before and after aging at RTFOT). It was also carried out specific rheological tests for the determination of Performance Grade (PG) and the behavior related to permanent deformation by Multiple Stress Creep and Recovery (MSCR) test. The results showed that it was possible to replace up to 10% of the asphalt binder by sap without observe significant changes in the rheological properties, and still reducing the compaction and mixing temperatures. This result implies on major environmental and economical effects, once a material from renewable source reduces the consumption of fossil asphalt binder, and decreases the fuel expenditure for the mixing and compaction procedures as well.

The resolution mentions salty or sweet crackers or cookies, which can be stuffed, coated, grissini, in the form of sticks and waffles. In some regions of Brazil, the term biscuit (alone) alludes to a product made with starch, milk, eggs (consid- ered in natura or minimally processed foods), oil and salt (considered culinary ingredients), which can be made at home; this product would be clas- sified as a processed food, as would bread made with wheat flour, yeast, water and salt. By con- trast, cream-filled cookies are made with a wide range of ingredients for industrial use such as vegetable fat, colorants, emulsifiers and flavour- ings. Therefore, the term cream-filled cookies is preferred as an example of an ultra-processed food. In this study, 67% of the participants agreed on the classification of cream-filled cookies be- fore the mini-course; after the mini-course, this percentage reached 100%.

Abstract This paper addresses the health challen-

The art of governing – which raises the critical question of what good governance means – has been a significant concern among social think- ers, and in the West, this can be found from the Greeks of classical antiquity. Lato sensu, govern- ing means to have control over something. Stricto sensu, now referring to the meaning that we will use henceforth relates to the way people organize, distribute and control resources, almost always in association with others. All forms refer to societal fields, even the most restricted ones, those that associate with the government of oneself, in- scribed in the field of morality. This concept goes through successive modifications of meaning, preserving some crucial points, and incorporat- ing others, always adapting to the vicissitudes of time. As we shall see later, a derived expression, governance, embodies the classical heritage, but also rejects other interpretations of modernity, bringing to light the vital facets of sociability processes of our late modernity.
