Пациентам, отнесенным к 1-й группе (27 больных, из них 17 женщин и 10 мужчин) назна- чался циклоспорин (Sandimmune neoral, novartis pharma) в суточной дозе 2,5 мг/кг/сутки перо- рально ежедневно в течение 4 недель. Пациенты, вошедшие во 2-ю группу (26 больных, из них 15 женщин и 11 мужчин) в течение 4 недель получа- ли терапию блокатором Н1-гистаминовых рецеп- торов (zyrtec®, ucb S.A. pharma Sector, бельгия) в дозе 10 мг/сутки перорально и блокатором Н2- гистаминовых рецепторов (zantac®, glaxo opera- zantac®, glaxo opera- ®, glaxo opera- glaxo opera- opera- opera- tions uk limited, Великобритания) в дозе 300 мг/ сутки перорально. Помимо этого, всем пациентам было допустимо назначение системных кортико- стероидов в низких дозах для уменьшения выра- женности симптомов заболевания, объем потре- бления которых учитывался.
CONTEXT AND OBJECTIVE: An association between chronicidiopathicurticaria (CIU) and autoimmune thyroid disease (ATD) has been reported. However, there have not been any reports on whether ATD raises the risk of angioedema, which is a more severe clinical presentation of CIU. Thus, the aim of the present study was to evaluate whether the risk of angioedema is increased in patients with CIU and ATD. DESIGN AND SETTING: Case-control study including 115 patients with CIU at a tertiary public institution. METHODS: The patients were evaluated with regard to occurrence of angioedema and presence of ATD, hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism.
ABSTRACT – Chronicurticaria is a skin disorder with a very high impact on patients’ quality of life. It has a prevalence between 7,8 and 22,3% with a higher incidence in women between 20 and 40 years old. The intensity of the itch, the anxiety caused by its recurrent nature and also the incapacity caused by the unpredictable exacerbations are among the factors that mostly impact patient’s quality of life. Being a mast cell-driven disease, the most recent recommendations of the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI), the EU-funded network of excellence, the Global Allergy and Asthma European Network (GA2LEN), the European Dermatology Forum (EDF), and the World Allergy Or- ganization (WAO) suggest a symptomatic treatment for chronicurticaria, with very limited routine diagnostic measures being recommended. Non-sedating anti-histamines H1 (AHH1ns), in approved dose, are recommended as first line of treatment followed by the utilization of omalizumab, cyclosporine A or montelukast as add-on treatment in patients that do not respond to high doses AHH1ns. The treatment must continue until the patient is symptoms free, in the most possible safe manner.
Forty-six sera from CIU patients, 15 males and 31 females ranging in age from 15 to 76 years, were evaluated in this study. All pa- tients had a clinical diagnosis of CIU, pre- senting urticarial skin lesions during physi- cal examination, as well as a conclusive history of repeated episodes ofurticaria last- ing for more than 6 weeks, without an appar- ent definitive cause. A sporadic episode of angioedema was reported by some of them. Twenty-three CIU patients seronegative for anti-H. pylori IgG antibodies by DOT- ELISA (Orgenic, Yavne, Israel) represented the noninfected group, while 23 CIU pa- tients seropositive for the bacterium repre- sented the infected group. The control group consisted of 10 healthy adultsof similar age without a clinical history of CIU. All of them had negative laboratory results for Chagas’ disease, syphilis, viral hepatitis and chronic diseases such as autoimmune thyroiditis and rheumatoid arthritis.
Chronic spontaneous urticaria is a complex disorder, of unclear etiology, easily diagnosed although often difficult to treat. It has a significant impact on the patients’ quality of life and results in high direct and indirect costs. The diagnosis ofchronic spontaneous urticaria is mainly clinical and a limited number of tests is recommended for differential diagnosis and/or for the investigation/exclusion of possible causes. In addition to the complete blood count and C-reactive protein, and/or erythrocyte sedimentation rate, additional tests must be selected according to clinical criteria. The aim of therapy is the complete clinical control ofchronic spontaneous urticaria. Evolution should be documented by weekly symptom scoring – Weekly Urticaria Activity Score (UAS7) –, as well as the assessment of quality of life. The therapeutic approach is based on second-generation H1 antihistamines (anti-H1) administered continuously in the approved doses (first line), and, in the absence of a clinical response, up to four times the daily-approved dose (second line). First generation H1 antihistamines are not recommended. Approximately 30% of patients are not controlled with second line therapy, and it is recommended to add a third line therapy. Of the two options, omalizumab and cyclosporine, only omalizumab is approved for chronic spontaneous urticaria and has a better safety profile, thus being preferably recommended. In Portugal there are no national-based recommendations applicable to clinical practice. The elaboration of these recommendations is justified by the need to standardize both the diagnosis and the treatment approach of patients with chronic spontaneous urticariain Portugal, and for the referral of patients to specialized centers, in the most severe cases.

The tests were performed on the SETSYS thermal analyser manufactured by Setaram, using the TG-DTA head. The systems allows measurements of heat flow during phase changes related to melting and crystallization of tested alloys. The measurement of the temperature of the beginning and the end of the change were made with the method of two tangents’ intersection (“one set point”). The conditions of the experiment are given in table 2, and the DTA curves for the ZRE1 alloy during heating and cooling are shown in figure 2.

Os macrófagos são células fagocíticas que atuam como primeira linha de defesa do organismo, e que estão envolvidos na formação de granulomas em pacientes com hanseníase. A imunopatogenia da resposta celular nos estados reacionais ainda é pouco estudada, porém, diversas evidências sugerem que as drogas prednisona, talidomida, ciclosporina e amitriptilina, utilizadas no controle das reações hansênicas, exercem seus efeitos pela modulação das funções de diferentes células imunocompetentes. O objetivo do presente estudo foi analisar a ação in vitro das drogas prednisona, talidomida, ciclosporina e amitriptilina sobre a produção de citocinas por CLs e macrófagos de camundongos BALB/c. As CLs foram isoladas, purificadas e cultivadas a partir da epiderme pela técnica de “panning” e os macrófagos foram isolados da cavidade peritoneal de camundongos BALB/c. Após 36 h de tratamento com as drogas, os níveis de TNF-, IL-12 e IL-10 foram medidos por ELISA. Prednisona, talidomida, ciclosporina e amitriptilina inibiram os níveis de TNF- produzidos pelas CLs, em ambas as concentrações, no entanto, não foi detectada alteração significativa na produção de IL-12. A produção de TNF- e de IL-12 por macrófagos peritoneais também foi diminuída após o tratamento, porém os níveis de IL-10 não foram modificados por nenhuma das drogas testadas. Nossos resultados mostram que estas drogas podem modular a resposta imune através da regulação das citocinas pró-inflamatórias TNF- e IL-12 por CLs purificadas da epiderme e por macrófagos peritoneais, indicando que as citocinas constituem importante alvo de drogas usadas no tratamento dos estados reacionais.

Meat samples were thawed at 5 o C for 24 hr. then cut into samples of equal dimensions and weighed Samples were cooked in plastic bags in a water bath at 80 o C for 90 min., cooled in running tap water for 20 min., then dried from fluids and reweighed. The cooking loss % was also determined by oven. Frozen samples randomly selected were used for determining cooking losses and thawed for 24 hours in 4 o C refrigerator. Two fingers from each treatment were weighed separately and rapped by aluminum foil, then cooked by oven at 160 o C for 25-30min. This algorithm when compared with other techniques we found that the proposed fault tolerant method outflanks both TMR and DMR methods about 35% in average. In computing most common topologies in N-Modulo Redundancy are TMR and DMR. TMR method is used when reliability of task is important as it can only mask the faults. The problem is that voter can also be faulty. The other method DMR includes two cores running parallel and checks for the similarity in the output thus only indicate the mismatch doesn’t tolerate the fault so have to use separate mechanism for fault recovery . The task was executed using Aldrich 99,8% titanium powder of 325 mesh and spectrally pure graphite powder of 325 mesh. The powders were next placed in an air-tight container to prevent titanium oxidation and the whole was mixed for 24h. After the lapse of this time, a colloidal slurry of the powders and alcohol was prepared in a 1:2 ratio, and the ready slurry was applied by washing on the internal surface of a ceramic mould cavity (Fig. 1). Thus prepared mould with a layer of reagents was dried at a temperature of 573K for the time of 10min, to be placed next in the chamber of a Balzers vacuum-type furnace. A charge of the composition corresponding to the composition of cast steel was placed in the furnace crucible and melting was conducted in the atmosphere of protective gas (argon). When the melt reached the temperature of 1823K, it was poured into a mould placed in the furnace chamber.

The use of plant remedies, such as a 10-40% solu- tion of Erakond, introduced into the periapical tissues and left in the root canal for 24 hours, was proved to be effective [16, 17]. However, it would be premature to consider the problem solved.
Results of measurements are presented in table 2 and 3. Examples of profilograms from the surface of bronze CuSn10 casting made in Gold Star XL plaster mould are presented in Figure 6. Analysis of the test results did not revealed a clear dependences between surface roughness of castings and methods of the preparation. Roughness values are random, independent on casting temperature and temperature and material of the molds. The one regularity that could be observed was that lower roughness parameter Ra showed test casts made of aluminum alloy AlSi11, next bronze casts CuSn10 and the higher value was observed for CuSn5Zn5Pb5 bronze.
