ABSTRACT: This was a phenomenological study undertaken at the Women’s Police Station in Guarapuava in the Brazilian state of Paraná that aimed to understand the signiicance of living with the offender after iling a domestic violence report at the station. Data were collected by means of interviews with 14 women victims of domestic violence, who continued to live with their attackers after reporting them. The women’s discourses were interpreted through the lens of the framework of French philosopher Maurice Merleau- Ponty. The results showed that the victims’ body images were modiied, distorted, and negative. Coexistence with the offenders was sustained through destruction and weakening of the victims’ body image, thereby reducing their coping skills because they felt threatened, insecure, and inferior to the other, which perpetuated the cycle of violence. In conclusion, there is a need for professionals trained to capture the invisible beneath the visible, in order to take care of abused women in their multidimensionality.

Domestic violence against women according to the viewpoint of family health strategy teams / Violência doméstica contra a mulher na percepção das equipes da estratégia saúde da família

A study emphasized that the majority of cases of domestic violence against women were committed by the partner, also demonstrating the strong interactions of dominance by the man. In general, the feelings of women in situations of domestic violence are disorderly and repressive. There is a confusion of affections after going through so many aggressions, regardless of the form. They develop feelings of insecurity, fear and submissive behaviors, in addition to feeling vulnerable over time, as these emotional issues are part of the abusive relationships that are intertwined with issues related to power and the strong domination of patriarchal culture, in addition to strong financial dependence that contributes to the perpetuation of domestic violence against women. 19

Desistindo da denúncia ao agressor: relato de mulheres vítimas de violência doméstica

Desistindo da denúncia ao agressor: relato de mulheres vítimas de violência doméstica

The goal of this study is to describe the ex- perience of female victims of domestic vio- lence, who forfeited the lawsuits against their aggressors. The interviews were ori- ented by the question: What was your ex- perience of forfeiting the denunciation of your aggressor? Three themes emerged from the convergence of the testimonies: time passed from the aggression to the de- nunciation and then to the forfeiting; the partner, the family, the women’s precinct; reflecting about the experience, which de- scribed the studied phenomenon. The women expressed ambiguous feelings for their aggressor: affection, anger, humilia- tion and fear. They recognize that they are dominated and humiliated, but notions of justice and equality between spouses do not appear in the testimonies. Forfeiting can be understood in the context of the reproduction of the traditional family struc- ture, conditioned to economic and social factors. Results highlight implications about the role of the Women’s Precinct and the healthcare institutions in the care for women who were victims of domestic violence.

Social representations of nurses concerning domestic violence against women: study with a structural approach

Social representations of nurses concerning domestic violence against women: study with a structural approach

For the four-quadrant chart, the natural order of evo- cation of the terms was considered to know the most spontaneous elements of the representations. In all, 495 words were evoked, of which 93 were different, meaning that the analysed corpus is homogeneous, considering the low frequency of different words. The four-quadrant chart was built with the average frequency of words of 18, a mi- nimum of 10, and an average order of evocation of 3.0 in a ranking of one to five. The terms distributed in the qua- drants enabled analysis of the structure and contents of the representation formed by the central nucleus, peripheral elements (first and second peripheries), and contrast zone.

After approval by the Ethics and Research Committee, empirical data were collected from January to March 2010. Seven FHS teams (14 professionals: 7 physicians and 7 nurses) were interviewed using a semi-structured script, which included questions about the advantages and dificulties in providing care in pregnant women who are victims of domestic violence. Health care professionals required higher education and needed to be part of the local health teams for at least 6 months in order to participate in this study. The BHU had seven teams and two members of each team were invited to participate in this study, i.e., a physician and a nurse, totaling 14 health care professionals and the saturation criterion was respected. The professionals who participated signed a consent form.

The Impact of the Expansion of the Bolsa Familia Program on the Time Allocation of Youths And Their Parents Lia Chitolina Miguel Nathan Foguel Naercio Menezes-Filho

As the multinomial model is non-linear, the marginal effect of the treatment in a DID model is not the marginal impact of the interaction between time and treatment, but the difference of the cross-differences, as described by Puhani (2012). The results of Table 7 (in terms of marginal effects) show that the BVJ has a significant effect on the probability studying and working at the same time, but not on the other outcome variables. The estimated marginal effects mean that the probability of a youngster studying and working increases by 4.2 percentage points with the BVJ, compared with a baseline of 30% in the control group in 2006. The estimated coefficients for the categories ‘studying only’ and ‘working only’ were negative but not statistically significant. It seems, therefore, that treated adolescents do not quit their jobs to study because of the program, but do both activities at the same time. This raises questions about the long run impacts of the program, since the quality of the night classes is notoriously low in Brazil.

Nurses have been providing basic health care more effectively towards patients in the scope of their families. However, a factor that limits their work in the Family Health Program (FHP) units is the urban violence that affects the suburbs of big cities, where families of low income, low education and low health level live in agglomeration. Lately, the working process of nurses in this context has been surrounded with great insecurity, reaching the extreme point in which their lives are at risk. In face of this situation, health professionals have safeguarded themselves, staying inside the health centers or units, and treating only the patients who are able to get there. This impossibility of full performance, however, makes them extremely frustrated.

dence, related to childhood experiences, since the ones experienced by the baby with his mother, in the existence of a reality that is good, stable, and caring. This conidence is such that, compared to the absence, frustration, and waiting, will emerge the tolerance and the ability to wait, preserving the outer object of the hate attacks from the baby. It is proicuous to use these elaborations of Klein to understand the psychic functioning triggered against traumatic events, when reality confronts the child with violent and terrifying situations, because, such as Klein deals with the mechanisms triggered by the baby’s psyche against anguishes of annihilation, the experiences of vio- lence arising from reality favor certain modes of emotional operation that are disorganizers of the being in the world. These operating modes tend to crystallize, since the very situation of violence is recurring, producing in the victims the anguished fear of its repetition and making them prisoners to permanent surveillance and seizures. The trauma also produces the need to seek safety and protec- tion, as we see in the above reported case in which mother and daughters are together in a room, while the other spaces of the house are of danger, since, in these, they can meet with the aggressor, which threatens them. The father is not always violent, but this way of reacting to his presence can remain and prevent other more amorous ways of interacting, consolidating, in reverse, the igure of the attacker father and reafirming his position as a bad person.

Should health professionals screen all women for domestic violence?

Should health professionals screen all women for domestic violence?

Certainly all women who disclose that they have been exposed to violence should be provided with options regarding seeking help [13]. Good diagnostic assessment requires that clinicians be able to identify and respond to signs and symptoms of abuse, from patterns of physical injury to mental health concerns, including unexplained pain and depression. Not asking women about exposure to violence during certain diagnostic assessments (such as investigation of chronic pain) may lead to misdiagnosis and a path of inappropriate investigations or treatments that will miss the underlying problem [14]. It is also imperative that clinicians know about the hospital- or community-based services that exist and ensure that there is a system in place to provide appropriate referral [15].

Today this cannot happen because it's all very evolved, when I’m faced with such a situation I feel revolted! It is the closest interface to representation, with the social practices; it contains the terms submission and low self-esteem at the same frequency. hese words show how the professionals view the victims who are immersed in a violent relationship and harmful to health.

Synthesis Of Arts In Architecture Of Uzbekistan Of The Ancient Period

Synthesis Of Arts In Architecture Of Uzbekistan Of The Ancient Period

was based on plastic contrast. For example, to emphasize the central part among the other composition, the architect 'in the middle third of the main wall had arranged an extensive (5.60 m) but shallow (75 cm) niche‖ [16, 46p]. The building itself was small in scale, and to emphasize its monumentality and visually to expand its interior, the sculptors correlated the height of zofor (1.40 m) to 6-meter span of the building. Frieze made with account of the angle of perspective, was decorated with garlands, supported by frames of children. The images of the frieze were original in the "very understanding of the ideal of human beauty and its artistic expression in plastic forms" [44, 61p]. Often in these images there was observed a deliberate asymmetry (in the faces), the disproportion (in the figures), aimed to correct the visual angle. For the sculpture in Toprak-kala "a rhythmic repetition of similar sculptural groups, determining architectonic division of interior, was characteristic" [45]. The style and the manner of sculpture, for example, of friezes were the same as of acanthus, volutes. So, it can be assumed that the ancient sculptors have been actively involved not only in the development of sculptures, but in architectural and decorative compositions (especially of capitals), and the connection between the latters was very tight. In general, the nature of decoration of the premises depended on the functions of the latter: "household and service rooms were modestly furnished, as for residential and ceremonial rooms they were finished with the appropriate splendor‖ [46, 67p]. The sculpture, obeying the architecture, served as an element of its design. In Bactria a monumental sculpture "was designed primarily to be installed in the temples" [22, 901p]. In architectural

The Impact of E-Commerce Securi ty, and National Environment on Consumer adoption of Intern et Banking in Malaysia and Singapore

The Impact of E-Commerce Securi ty, and National Environment on Consumer adoption of Intern et Banking in Malaysia and Singapore

Relative advantage is defined as the extent to which a person views an innovation as offering an advantage over previous ways of performing the same task (Roger, 1983; Agarwal & Prasad, 1997). Because Internet banking services allow customers to access their banking account from any location 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, it provides an enormous advantage and convenience to users (Tan & Teo, 2000). It also gives customers greater control over managing their finances, as they are able to check their accounts easily. Besides, a customer’s Internet experience, his or her banking needs can affect his adoption. As there are more financial products and services, it is expected that individuals with many financial accounts and who subscribe to many banking services will be more inclined to adopt Internet banking. Tan and Teo (2000) has reported that potential adopters of Internet banking services are likely to own multiple banking accounts and subscribe to various banking services. Rogers argues that potential adapters, who are allowed to experiment with an innovation will feel more comfortable with the innovation and are more likely to adopt it. Thus, if customers have the opportunity to try the innovation, certain fears of the unknown may be minimized. Government policy could also aid or hinder Internet diffusion (Mbarika, 2002). This is consistent with the national systems of innovation theory that posits that government policies may encourage or mandate technology development and adoption (King et. al., 1994; Wolcott et. al., 2001). Tan and Teo (2000) suggest that the greater the extent of government support for Internet commerce, the more likely Internet banking will be adopted, thus, confirming Goh’s (1995) suggestion that governments can play an interventionist and leading role in the diffusion of innovation. Potential users in turn would view new applications such as Internet banking services more favorably and hence be more like to use them. Thus, the second alternative hypothesis is:

The application of optical measurements for the determination of accuracy of gear wheels casts manufactured in the RT/RP process

The application of optical measurements for the determination of accuracy of gear wheels casts manufactured in the RT/RP process

Rapid prototyping (RP) and rapid tooling (RT) systems are increasingly used in the production of casting components. RP systems can be used directly for manufacturing casting moulds [1- 9]. The spectrum of rapid prototyping uses can be expanded by the application of the rapid tooling methods. One of the RT techniques is the direct manufacture of casting moulds using the ZCast technology. The accuracy of gear wheels casts made in printed moulds depends on a variety of technological factors [10- 13]. The accuracy of the cast fabrication quality can be assessed with the use of the coordinate optical measuring technique [14- 16]. Literature describes the methods for manufacturing moulds in

To perform construct analysis, exploratory factor analysis was carried out, considering the questions relating to violence (four psychological, six physical and three sexual questions), separately for each area (SP and ZMP). This was done because, given that this was the fi rst assessment of the instrument regarding its validity, it was important to consider a diversity of sociocultural contexts. In the factor analysis, three factors with eigenvalues greater than one were selected. Varimax rotation was applied, because the domains were taken to be independent, and only loads greater than 0.5 were considered. In addition, to analyze the internal consistency, Cronbach’s alpha was used. Following the factor analysis, violence scores were created for SP and ZMP for validation according to extreme groups (discriminatory validity). 23 To set up

A Method To Find The Area Of Sector Without The Usage Of Angle Made By The Chord

As we know that to find the area of sector the angle made by the chord (that is chord which divides the circle) is required. But in the below method we find the ratio of the segments of the circle. Thus by relating the area of segment to the area of sector the area of sector could be found. The ratio of area of segments is related to tangents that are drawn through diameter on either side.
