We have made a questionnaire to examine the validity and reliability of the measures we defined for Project Monitoring and Control PA and confirm that they are actually measure the ten specific practices. We will analyze the collected data by cronbach alpha reliability in SPSS. The questionnaire was reviewed and confirmed by practitioners in software developing and academics in software engineering in Zarqa University. The questionnaire was filled by software engineers, system designers, and students in computer information system department. The questionnaire consists of ten parts, each part is related to one of the ten specific practices of the Project Monitoring and Control process, each part consists of a group of statements (measures) related to the specific practice, alongside each statement there is five options: strongly agree, agree, neither agree nor disagree, disagree, strongly disagree. The questioner reads the statement then he will write his view of the statement relation with the specific practice by choosing one of the above five options, a sample shown in Appendix A.

Biogenic Amines in Food: Presence and Control Measures

Chapter 2 - Biogenic amines (BAs) and their metabolites are important neurotransmitters that are released by adrenal glands and sympathetic nervous system. The simultaneous determination of BAs in body fluids is, nowadays, widely used in clinical diagnosis and monitoring to provide valuable information regarding physiological status and metabolic disorders. These neurotransmitters are low molecular weight endogenous polar chemical substances, hence the development of bioanalytical methods for their quantitation is critical. However, the sensitivity and selectivity of these methods are limited by matrix interferences, low abundance and potential instability of the BAs. An appropriate sample preparation step, such as purification, derivatization (if necessary) and extraction is usually required before instrument analysis in order to clean- up interferences and concentrate the analytes. The most common sample clean-up techniques applied in the analysis of BAs are protein precipitation (PPT), liquid–liquid extraction (LLE), and solid-phase extraction (SPE). These are quite efficient but are known for being time consuming as well as the great amounts of biological sample and organic solvents required. Following the mentioned drawbacks, several authors have dedicated their research to miniaturized techniques, and these are gradually replacing the traditional approaches, although assuring similar efficiency. Several miniaturized techniques have been reported and successfully applied to determine BAs in biological samples, among them, micro-solid-phase extraction (µSPE), cloud point extraction (CPE), microextraction in packed syringe (MEPS), solid phase microextraction (SPME), molecularly imprinted polymers (MIP), and, more recently, single-drop microextraction (SDME), micro-total analysis system (μ-TAS), and dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction (DLLME). Lithuania up to date has not seen yet consistent research in monitoring and diagnostics of buildings, this is why in the framework of the national priority project STATIMON (2010-2011) it is expected to conduct a set of researches and establish a unique building monitoring concept, structure models and stability criteria, condition monitoring system structure and prototypes to implement it.

The collec- tion took place in the period from May to June 2015 by three researchers, along with the assistance of two scientific initia- tion fellows in the educational institutions’ own space, after the coordinator’s consent and availability of the documents. During the collection, it was possible to clarify doubts with the coordinator regarding aspects which were not clearly stated in the Pedagogical Project.

Monitoring and remote control of a hybrid photovoltaic microgrid

The search of new alternatives for energy supply in island communities has always been a challenge in scientific and social context. In order to attend these communities, in January 2013 a photovoltaic hybrid microgrid project had its beginning at Universidade do Vale do Rio dos Sinos (UNISINOS). This paper presents the characterization and the development of such microgrid, monitored remotely via internet, which allows visualizing the electrical measurements, energy production and performing remote control actions. This work also aims increasing the interaction between students of universities to perform laboratory practices. The system consists of two photovoltaic modules technologies, mono and multicrystalline, totaling 570 Wp, connected to an energy storage bank of 200 Ah in 24 V and a pure sinusoidal inverter of 1 kW to supply AC voltage loads of 220 V. All acquisition components of data, conversion and management system are located in a control cabinet. Currently, the microgrid uses the utility grid as an auxiliary generator, simulating an alternative source of energy, which can be further replaced by fuel cell, biodiesel generator, etc.

A remote monitoring and control system for ecosystem replication experiments

Currently, the monitoring and control hardware in place is a prototype built with low-cost components, whose development has evolved through various iterations. The data logger devel- opment is reported on a paper published in a scientific journal [1], allowing anyone to freely reproduce it. However, there is a main issue, which is the inability for someone to access the data acquired remotely. The solving of this issue is critical, since deviations in various variables, such as temperature, or a power loss of the system itself, which result in the failure to replicate a specific ecosystem scenario, will render the experiment a failure, or at best, a partial success. If data was to be made available remotely, with an alarm system in place immediately informing the researchers, it would enable the possibility of saving the ongoing experiment. In the current situation, a failure of any kind will, most probably, be detected too late for any corrective measures to be taken.

Outbreak of Resistant Acinetobacter baumannii – Measures and Proposal for Prevention and Control

In the present study, to identify risk factors for MDR/ carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter, 86 patients were compared to 172 non-colonized/infected patients. Colonization or infection was associated with prior infection and antibiotic use. During 2007, prior infection (p=0.001) and carbapenem use (p=0.001) and, in 2008, third- generation cephalosporin (p=0.015) and carbapenem use (p=0.019) were identified as risk factors. Antimicrobial treatments probably select resistant strains, as is shown by an association tendency in the multivariate analysis. Manikal et al., in a multicenter study, described an increase of MDR/carbapenem-resistant A. baumannii associated with the use of third-generation cephalosporins. These authors suggested that the use of one antimicrobial could improve resistance mechanisms to others [39]. Falagas and Kopterides observed that carbapenem and cephalosporin use were important risk factors for the selection of resistant strains [40]. Other studies have also shown, in univariate and multivariate analyses, that prior carbapenem use was associated with A. baumanni resistance [41,42].

A competição global e as preocupações dos acionistas pressionam as plantas a superar suas metas tanto quanto reduzir custos, aumentar produção, melhorar qualidade, segurança e confiabilidade. Neste cenário, uma das formas de reduzir custos variáveis é melhorar o controle regulatório. Um dos fatores que influenciam a performance das malhas de controle é a sintonia inadequada pois as malhas sofrem deterioração no seu desempenho devido a alterações normais na dinâmica do processo. A utilização de softwares para simulação e sintonia de malhas de controle tem se destacado nas indústrias uma vez que permite aumentar a estabilidade da planta. Neste contexto têm-se as justificativas necessárias para se pesquisar e aplicar ferramentas de sintonia de malhas de controle nas indústrias. Este trabalho apresenta um estudo de caso de sintonia da malha de controle de embebição realizado em uma unidade industrial da Tereos Brasil. A hipótese defendida neste trabalho é avaliar se as ferramentas control loop performance monitoring e Simulink do Matlab® são eficazes para sintonia de malhas de controle. O resultado mostrou que as ferramentas utilizadas são práticas e eficazes, pois, permitiram a sintonia para parâmetros ótimos o que resultou na redução na variabilidade da vazão de embebição (67,8% menor) e também na atividade da válvula (79,5% menor).

In the first phase, the collabora- tors designed and conducted a prevalence study of diabetes and related biological and behavioral factors, including prediabetes, overweight and o b e s i t y, and preventive health practices. In the second phase, the project will undertake a pilot study of the effectiveness of an intervention model aimed at improving the self-management of diabetes among those indi- viduals living with type 2 diabetes, and to prevent or delay the onset of diabetes among those at high risk.

Control and monitoring of antimicrobial resistance in bacteria in food-producing animals in Japan

Increased  antimicrobial  resistance  in  bacteria  that  cause  infections  in  humans  is  a  threat  to  public  health.  The  use  of  antimicrobials  in  food‐producing  animals  in  the  form  of  veterinary  medicine  and  feed  additives  may  lead  to  the  emergence  or  spread  of  antimicrobial  resistance  in  bacteria  of  animal  origin.  In  Japan,  the  use  of  antimicrobials  in  food‐producing  animals  is  regulated  by  the  Pharmaceutical  Affairs  Law  and  Feed  Safety  Law  to  minimise  the  risk  of  emergence  and  spread  of  antimicrobial  resistance  in  bacteria.  Since  December  2003,  all  antimicrobials  used  in  food‐producing  animals  have  been  subjected to risk assessment by the Food Safety  Commission.  In  addition,  an  antimicrobial  resistance monitoring programme has been in  place  since  2000  to  monitor  the  evolution  of  resistance  to  different  antimicrobials  in  bacteria in food‐producing animals.

Coalition Governments and Fire Alarm Mechanisms in the Legislative Control of Provisional Measures.

This article discusses the relationship between the Executive and Legislative Branches in Brazil with regard to the issuing of Provisional Measures (PMs) by the former. The article contends that the legal ability of the Brazilian Chief of State to issue decrees with the force of law and taking force immediately (i.e., PMs) does not imply that members of Congress have abdicated from their legislative prerogatives in favor of the Executive Branch, as proposed by some authors analyzing the issue. After presenting the most important analyses of the dynamics in the Executive-Legislative relationship, the article aligns itself with the interpretation emphasizing the process of mutual delegation and control between the two powers, contending that the formation of a solid coalition government generates incentives for the Executive to issue PMs that meet the interests of the legislative majorities, and that Congress is also capable of inferring whether such measures meet its interests, by way of an indirect supervisory mechanism known as the “fire alarm”. The article proposes that it is possible to view PMs as part of a c o m p l e x a n d c h a n g i n g c o n t e x t o f d e l e g a t i o n w i t h i n B r a z i l i a n Presidentialism, involving neither usurpation nor abdication.

neuroendocrine aspects of women with childhood abuse and depression in full factor design. As experimental manipulation, the authors exposed all groups to Trier Social Stress Test (TSST). This test elevated the plasmatic concentration of cortisol in all groups, but the group of women with childhood abuse and depression presented a significantly higher elevation of cortisol. Furthermore, regardless of depression diagnosis, women with childhood abuse history presented a much higher response of ACTH after the test. Another important finding was women with both childhood abuse and depression presented higher heart rate levels during the test. In another study the same protocol was performed in women admitted to a hospital and evaluated through venous catheter of basal concentration of ACTH and cortisol and after administration of CRH and ACTH. In the stimulation test with CRH, the group with childhood abuse history and no diagnosis for depression presented high concentration of ACTH up to 30 minutes after the test. On the other hand, both groups composed of women with major depression diagnosis presented ACTH concentrations that were lower than those in the control group. Regarding cortisol concentration rates, both groups with childhood abuse history had basal levels and after-CRH stimulation levels that were lower than those in the control group up to 120 minutes after the test. This effect was more visible in the group with major depression diagnosis, a phenomenon that was also observed after the ACTH stimulation test. 43
