Air conditioning unit for free indirect cooling with fresh air in combination with adiabatic and mechanical cooling. Air conditioning unit for free indirect cooling with fresh air in combination with adiabatic and mechanical cooling, with integrated adiabatic pump. This means that the air in the server room is completely separated from the fresh air outside, which eliminates the possibility of dust or changes in the humidity of the fresh air affecting highly sensitive IT equipment.
The ServeCool SW is suitable for use in data centers with hundreds to several thousand square meters of air-conditioned IT area. To maintain defined humidity values in the server room, the ServeCool SW can activate an external humidifier (option). The unit cools in recirculation mode, which means it draws in exhaust air from the server room, cools it and blows it back into the room as supply air.
The ServeNet control system controls the unit as needed and depending on the operating conditions. The cooler for supplying the cooling hose and the fully demineralized water treatment is in operation.

Technical data
The unit uses different cooling processes: indirect free fresh air cooling via high performance plate heat exchanger is complemented by indirect adiabatic cooling as well as mechanical cooling. The corners of the exchanger package are cast into the extruded aluminum hollow sections of the outer shell with a sealing compound to form a watertight seal. The stainless steel sidewalls have a high quality paint finish and are bolted to the above and sealed to make them water tight.
The cross-flow plate heat exchangers are Eurovent certified and achieve efficiency class H1 according to EN 13053. Spray humidifier consisting of tubes and tangential full cone nozzles, made of a fully demi-water resistant plastic, mounted in a stainless steel frame; activated by a solenoid valve with actuator and limit switches; pressure resistant up to 16 bar (according to DIN EN 12201-2). Consisting of copper tubes and aluminum fins with collecting gutter for condensate drainage made of stainless steel;.
Tower access door: large access opening for easy access to the cross-flow plate heat exchangers for maintenance and to the components of the adiabatic system. Supply air access door: large access opening for easy access to the cooling coil, the bypass damper and the supply air fans for maintenance.

Combined supply air sensor (temperature, humidity) – Combined fresh air sensor (temperature, humidity) – The filter monitors the fresh air. Exhaust air filter class M5 as a compact filter instead of G4 for optimized filtering of circulating air. Changed the height of the base frame to adapt to the structure of the false floor (820 mm or 900 mm).
For direct connection of the fresh air intake to the ServeCool unit using an insulated air duct made in panel design; equipped with legs to adapt to the frame height. The fresh air box contains the fresh air filter, configured as a class M5 compact filter and the fresh air damper for closing the fresh air opening during maintenance work. ServeUnit controller integrated in each unit, for autonomous and individual control of the unit, enabling need-based adaptation to operating conditions.
Easy wiring of the units to the building management system via the interface (Modbus IP) integrated in the ServeUnit controller. Supply air temperature regulation with exhaust air temperature limit and fixed supply air volume flow setting.

Content
Intended use
ServeCool SWP is suitable for use in data centers with hundreds to several thousand square meters of air-conditioned IT space. The cooling power of the system can be scaled up as needed simply by connecting several units in series. To maintain defined humidity values in the server room, the ServeCool SWP can activate an external humidifier (optional).

A fine water filter is installed in the supply line with full tangential cone nozzles. Lamellar damper for directing the flow of supply air through the cooling coil or bypass; including open/close actuator. Channeling the air through the bypass minimizes pressure drop on the air side when mechanical cooling is not required.
The components used are tried and tested in the industry and feature a very high level of availability. In case of failure, it is possible to quickly obtain a standard component as a spare part. Fire control: Connection for an external signal to switch off the device in case of fire.
Uninterruptible power supply to the ServeUnit controller in case of periodic power outages or frequency fluctuations. For redundant power supply it is possible to switch between two alternative power supply paths. The 'source switching' option also includes the controller supply (ie uninterruptible power supply to the ServeUnit controller).
Electrical components and software interface for transmitting signals between Hoval ServeCool and an external humidifier (eg 0…10 V or 0…20 mA); electrical components installed in the control box and fully pre-wired. Electrical components installed in the control box and fully pre-wired for the activation of an ultrasonic humidifier with approx.

Unit type reference
An ultrafine dust filter is built in to filter the exhaust air (it replaces the standard filter). The basic frame can be supplied in 3 versions to adapt the ServeCool unit to the structure of the false floor. There is no change in the linear characteristic regardless of settings or pressure conditions.

The fresh air box is used to connect the fresh air intake directly to the ServeCool unit by means of an air duct manufactured in a panel design.

Safety functions
FSystem design
Design
The configuration conditions are based on statistical meteorological data for the location of the data center (according to VDI 4710). For additional safety even in extreme weather conditions, it may be reasonable to assume a higher fresh air temperature and humidity in the setup. For Frankfurt, the following average fresh air conditions apply to the configuration of the cooling units: 35 °C / 22 % r.h.
Design example
Location
The supply air is distributed through the room through the false floor, and the exhaust air is extracted under the ceiling. The cold aisle enclosure prevents the supply air from mixing with the exhaust air, thus ensuring efficient air conditioning.
F1.3 Water treatment
Free and adiabatic cooling
Cooling capacities
Mechanical cooling
The dimensions of a customer-supplied supply air humidifier depend on the dehumidification capacity of the ServeCool unit, and therefore the outlet air humidity. Set the set value for the exhaust air humidity at low fresh air temperatures accordingly.
Recommended extract air humidity
Change filter (exhaust air filter, . fresh air filter) When the 'Filter' alarm appears, at least annually. Comprehensive functional check and cleaning of the unit (fans, actuators, adiabatic pump, spray nozzles, cooling valve,. Check if additional activities are needed to comply with national regulations (e.g. systems according to VDI 2047-2).
