6 CONSIDERAÇÕES FINAIS

A CR é uma importante complicação metabólica da AR que pode ter consequências negativas para os indivíduos acometidos como, por exemplo, o aumento do risco de desenvolvimento de doenças cardiovasculares. Apesar de ocorrer na maioria dos pacientes com AR, a CR ainda é negligenciada pelos reumatologistas.

Os grandes avanços que ocorreram no controle da inflamação sistêmica da AR nos últimos anos podem não ter o impacto esperado no aumento da sobrevida dos pacientes caso não sejam acompanhados de intervenções não farmacológicas como, por exemplo, a prática de atividade física, com destaque para os exercícios de fortalecimento muscular.

No presente estudo, houve uma redução da MM das pacientes com AR em comparação à MM das mulheres sem a doença. Entretanto, não houve associação entre a redução da MM na AR e marcadores de atividade e severidade da doença. Essa redução da MM de mulheres com AR encontrada no nosso estudo reforça a importância da avaliação da composição corporal nesse grupo de pacientes.

Devido à frequência relativamente elevada de CR encontrada no nosso estudo e devido ao fato de a excreção urinária de creatinina ser um exame sensível, de baixo custo e de fácil realização, os autores deste estudo sugerem que ele seja implantado na prática clínica do reumatologista para uma melhor avaliação dos pacientes com AR.
