3.6. Conclusão

O uso da eletrocardiografia para diagnóstico de HVE ainda apresenta grandes desafios e limitações, tendo em vista que a ecocardiografia chega a apresentar, para essa mesma finalidade, sensibilidade de 93% e especificidade de 95%, com acurácia diagnóstica de 94%(8). Ainda não dispomos do critério eletrocardiográfico ideal, que conjugue alta sensibilidade e alta especificidade como a ecocardiografia, porém, o eletrocardiograma, por ser um método de relativo baixo custo, não utilizar radiações ionizantes, ser de rápida execução, requerer menor habilidade técnica para sua realização e pela grande quantidade de informações prestadas sobre diversos aspectos das cardiopatias, certamente, permanecerá como peça fundamental na propedêutica cardiológica. Todavia, ao utilizá-lo para diagnóstico de HVE, o clínico deve considerar as importantes limitações apresentadas pela eletrocardiografia para tal finalidade.
