CONCLUSÃO

O Protocolo de Perícia em Bem-estar Animal permitiu o diagnóstico de maus-tratos contra animais envolvidos em denúncias recebidas pela Seção de Defesa e Proteção Animal do município de Pinhais, Paraná. Entre os casos selecionados para aplicação do protocolo a maioria revelou grau de bem-estar baixo, compatível com a ocorrência de maus-tratos, majoritariamente contra cães. O conjunto de indicadores de conforto apresentou maior frequência de inadequação e o conjunto de indicadores comportamentais maior frequência de adequação. A maioria das ocorrências foi resolvida após intervenção fiscal e os casos foram encerrados.
