1. A fauna de pequenos mamíferos (roedores e marsupiais) e de
carrapatos em parasitismo nos hospedeiros e em vida livre, da RFMG,
apresentou grande riqueza de espécies, apesar de ser um fragmento de
Mata Atlântica próximo ao maior adensamento populacional do
Hemisfério Sul.
2. A diversidade de espécies de Ixodes spp. em uma mesma localidade,
como aquela amostrada no presente estudo, é a maior já encontrada
para este gênero, no Brasil.
3. Novos registros de hospedeiros foram acrescentados para as espécies I.
aragaoi, I. loricatus, I. schulzei e I. cf. schulzei.
4. Larvas, ninfas e fêmeas de Ixodes auritulus foram encontradas na
vegetação pela primeira vez no Brasil.
5. Existe a presença de anticorpos para antígenos de Rickettsia spp. nos
pequenos mamíferos da RFMG, sugerindo a circulação de cepas desses
microrganismos entre os animais.
6. A quase totalidade de carrapatos adultos da espécie I. aragaoi e cinco
diferentes espécies de Amblyomma, apresentaram respectivamente,
infecção por riquétsias e Coxiella sp. endosimbiontes, comumente
associadas a esses carrapatos.
7. Os protozoários Hepatozoon sp. e Babesia sp. foram encontrados em
exemplares de I. schulzei e I. cf. fuscipes, e em pools de carrapatos
imaturos de Amblyomma incisum, respectivamente, pela primeira vez no
Brasil.
