Assim, as estimativas dos parâmetros genéticos para as características de produção e qualidade são consistentes com os achados da literatura para a raça Holandesa, no qual, a seleção para produção de leite pode resultar em ganhos genéticos moderados em poucas gerações. A introdução das porcentagens de gordura e proteína em programas de seleção do rebanho leiteiro, como já ocorre nos países desenvolvidos, trará ganhos genéticos em poucas gerações e ainda ocasionará melhoras efetivas na qualidade do leite e, portanto maior atenção deve ser dada para essas características. Ainda, a seleção para produção de leite, resulta em respostas diretas para a produção de gordura e produção de proteína, no entanto, a seleção para incrementar a produção de leite resulta na diminuição genética para porcentagem de gordura e porcentagem de proteína, e, portanto, deve ser monitorada para evitar prejuízos para a indústria de lacticínios.

A baixa correlação genética encontrada entre escore de células somáticas e as características produtivas e de qualidade do leite fundamenta a possibilidade de sua inclusão em programas de melhoramento animal, sem que haja interferência negativa sob a produção de leite ou sólidos, todavia os ganhos genéticos que podem ser alcançados quando a característica de escore de células somáticas é selecionada, visando controlar a mastite nos rebanhos, é pequena em curto prazo, e, portanto, recomenda-se

que o setor produtivo e acadêmico busquem critérios alternativos de seleção para que resultados efetivos para a redução a mastite apareçam a um curto período no rebanho.
