6. CONCLUSÕES

O estudo com diferentes composições de meios de cultura indicou preliminarmente aquele que levava à maior produção de 1,3-PDO por C. beijerinckii Br21 e a regressão por mínimos quadrados parciais (PLS) sinalizou as substâncias com maior influência sobre a produção, sendo os principais, K2HPO4, extrato de levedura e FeSO4·7H2O.

O estudo com as diferentes concentrações dos mencionados compostos mostrou que a concentração de K2HPO4 presente no meio WIS é o mais adequado para a produção de 1,3-PDO e que o aumento da concentração de extrato de levedura resulta em aumento da concentração de 1,3-PDO. Além disso, a adição de FeSO4·7H2O também aumentou da produção de 1,3-PDO.

A suplementação do meio com vitamina B12 não se mostrou necessária para a fermentação de glicerol por C. beijerinckii Br21.

O desenvolvimento de um novo meio de cultura baseado no meio WIS, com o aumento da concentração de extrato de levedura e a adição de FeSO4·7H2O, resultou em leve aumento na produção de 1,3-PDO.

A otimização da concentração de glicerol e de FeSO4·7H2O no meio WISmod resultou em um aumento de 51,3% na produção de 1,3-PDO em relação ao meio WIS original.

O íon ferro possui influência positiva sobre a produção de 1,3-PDO e o íon sulfato negativa, possivelmente pela degradação desse composto na presença de sulfato. Esses resultados indicam que a adição de outros compostos com íon ferro poderiam resultar em produções superiores aos observados para o FeSO4·7H2O.

O objetivo geral desse trabalho foi concluído, com o aumento da produtividade de 1,3-PDO no meio otimizado. No entanto, outros estudos como a otimização da concentração de outros sais de ferro, tais como o FeCl3·6H2O poderia resultar em maiores produções. Aliado a isto a alteração do modo de operação ou da fonte de nitrogênio também poderiam ter um efeito positivo sobre a produção de 1,3-PDO por C. beijerinckii Br21.
