Este tipo de investigação requer um grande nível de detalhe em todas as suas etapas. Implica a necessidade de ter uma equipa pluridisciplinar e meios que permitam ajustar a variável independente ao estudo em causa, de forma que estimule o consumidor o mais possível em termos de simpatia, congruência, qualidade e intensidade. Uma grande percentagem dos efeitos de um aroma é moderada por uma ou mais variáveis, é importante o detalhe e estudo deste tipo de variáveis tanto ao nível do individuo como ao nível contextual. Em termos metodológicos era importante a conjugação da realização de investigação quantitativa e qualitativa de modo a aprofundar e melhorar a informação sobre o tema.
