4.2.3 Limitações do estudo e sugestões para futuras investigações
O presente estudo sendo um estudo de caso teria beneficiado com a análise de um conjunto mais vasto de instrumentos de avaliação significativos na área da maternidade precoce e da análise detalhada do impacto das múltiplas figuras prestadoras de cuidados no desenvolvimento do bebé, neste contexto. Assim, seria importante que em investigações futuras com características semelhantes às do estudo desenvolvido, fosse possível aprofundar os recursos e dificuldades das adolescentes em situação de gravidez/maternidade. Isto seria concretizado integrando medidas que aprofundassem os dados sócio-demográficos das jovens, os seus mecanismos de coping e os aspectos intra e inter-pessoais relativos à maternidade precoce, nomeadamente a sua percepção de suporte social, de desenvolvimento social- -cognitivo-emocional e de bem-estar emocional, assim como do desenvolvimento e comportamento do seu filho. Também que avaliassem a forma como figuras prestadoras de cuidados ao bebé, nomeadamente o pai, a avó materna ou outros elementos significativos, convivem com as circunstâncias da gravidez e da maternidade na adolescência, inclusive a qualidade de vinculação que estabeleceram com a criança. Estas medidas e fontes poderão proporcionar informação que contribua para compreensões renovadas sobre os desafios da integração e da aceitação do papel materno, na adolescência.
Seria também importante medir a organização de vinculação da mãe adolescente recorrendo ao instrumento Adult Attachment Interview (AAI) e não apenas inferir, a partir dos
restantes dados com base na literatura, de forma a que os resultados relativos à qualidade de vinculação da mãe adolescente fossem mais fidedignos. Deste modo, permitiria-se atender a sistemas de classificação das organizações de vinculação mais detalhados e a uma melhor compreensão do impacto da organização de vinculação das mães adolescentes ao nível da adaptação à maternidade. A qualidade de vinculação da jovem deveria ser avaliada no período da gravidez, assim como no período pós-natal. Isto porque acontecimentos pessoais significativos que envolvem transições, como é o nascimento de um filho, revestem-se de um potencial transformativo significativo no modo como o sujeito se posiciona face às suas experiências relacionais precoces, constituindo por isso um momento privilegiado de revisão das representações acerca de si e dos outros (Bowlby, 1980; Main & Goldwyn, 1984-1998).
76 O estudo desenvolvido acarreta algumas limitações de índole metodológica, impondo restrições no tipo de ilações que podem ser realizadas, a partir das suas conclusões. Relativamente ao procedimento Situação Estranha, por se aplicar a um grupo etário bastante reduzido, dificultou a obtenção da amostra, delimitando-a à díade em estudo. No que diz respeito à EAM, apresenta-se como limitação o facto de não ter sido aplicada exactamente aos 12 meses após o parto dado ser o momento adequado para a sua realização, mas antes após 14 meses do parto. Tendo em conta que as questões que integram a EAM são muito abertas e as narrativas produzidas pelas jovens são, por vezes lacunares, aliado ao facto de os juízes que efectuaram a cotação da entrevista não terem prática com o respectivo sistema de cotação, são aspectos que levam a que a tarefa de cotação tenha sido dificultada, podendo haver a possibilidade de algum viés. Também em relação ao sistema de cotação, embora revele-se como capaz de diferenciar mães adolescentes com perfis distintos de adaptação à maternidade, convergindo com a concepção referida na revisão de literatura de que a maternidade na adolescência é um fenómeno multi-determinado, não previa o perfil originado pela mãe adolescente do presente estudo, o que pode de alguma forma condicionar a interpretação dos resultados efectuada. Seria importante que em estudos futuros com este tipo de metodologia houvesse uma revisão do sistema de cotação no sentido de prever outros perfis que não encaixem exactamente nos dois agrupamentos já contemplados.
Um outro aspecto a mencionar refere-se ao facto da recolha de dados relativos à qualidade de ajustamento da jovem mãe ter ocorrido ao 14º mês do pós-parto. Com base no que outros investigadores já desenvolveram (ex., Furstenberg et al., 1987), considera-se pertinente que estudos futuros junto da população de mães adolescentes, passassem a assumir um formato longitudinal. Desta forma, seria possível aprofundar os conhecimentos sobre a natureza dos perfis de adaptação à maternidade entre mães adolescentes ao longo do tempo, assim como dos marcadores para o sucesso ou o insucesso na sua transição para a idade adulta. Consequentemente, a identificação precoce das adolescentes que reúnam um potencial de risco acrescido para o desajustamento será facilitada, o que optimizará por sua vez os resultados de programas de intervenção implementados. Este tipo de estudos seria também pertinente para acompanhar os bebés, filhos de mães adolescentes, ao longo do tempo de forma a traçar e proporcionar um quadro compreensivo das implicações da organização de vinculação na infância.
77 Por último, outra limitação do presente estudo prende-se com as características da amostra utilizada, uma vez que sendo um estudo de caso constituído apenas por uma díade mãe-filho e esta se circunscrever unicamente à zona de Lisboa, de nacionalidade Angolana e de nível sócio-económico baixo, impossibilita a generalização dos dados para uma população mais alargada. Seria interessante em pesquisas futuras, a existência de uma amostra com características diversificadas, nomeadamente adolescentes de realidades sócio-económicas e culturais distintas, assim como de diferentes idades dentro do período da adolescência, de modo a fornecer um quadro mais claro da influência desse tipo de características relativas à amostra. Ainda relativamente à idade da adolescente é importante ter em conta que em comparação com a idade da maioria das adolescentes dos estudos neste contexto, é superior, situando-se no limiar da faixa etária da adolescência, o que pode condicionar a interpretação dos resultados.
