Os resultados apresentados nesta dissertação permitem propor a continuação deste estudo. Assim considera-se importante:

88 A identificação da estrutura das moléculas presentes nos extractos aquosos das flores de A. campestris e H. stoechas por espectrometria de massa, o que provavelmente irá permitir correlacionar a estrutura dos compostos com a sua actividade biológica.
Estudar o metabolismo in vitro dos extractos aquosos através do tracto digestivo de forma contínua, utilizando sempre a mesma amostra no decorrer dos diferentes ensaios. A digestão por saliva artificial é um tópico que seria interessante desenvolver, pois embora este fluido biológico seja constituído apenas por α-amilase e o tempo de contacto dos compostos com a saliva seja reduzido, este é o primeiro passo do processo digestivo devendo ser incluído nos estudos do metabolismo.
Continuar o estudo do metabolismo intestinal sobre as decocções de A. campestris e H.
stoechas, com intuito de estudar os compostos que permeam a membrana das células
Caco-2. Por outro lado, a digestão pela bílis, estudo da biodisponibilidade do extracto. Prosseguir os estudos morfo-anatómicos das estruturas secretoras. Seria útil tentar
novas fixações, alterando quer o tempo de fixação quer o fixado de modo a preservar o secretado contido nos espaços extracelulares dos tricomas (espaço sub-cuticular) e dos canais (lúmen do canal).
