O primeiro passo para continuação desse trabalho seria fazer um laboratório para comparar o grau de confiabilidade da ferramenta “Cost comparison toolkit: Calculating server power usage” (MATTESON, 2013) com um wattímetro de uso profissional. A partir daí seria possível definir o grau de certeza da ferramenta versus uma medição real. Para esta pesquisa a ferramenta se mostrou suficiente, pois o objetivo não era saber o consumo exato, mas comparar um ambiente de virtualização com um ambiente tradicional de servidores.

Outra expansão seria levar essa pesquisa para os demais institutos da CNEN. IPEN, IRD, IEN e CDTN possuem sua própria gestão de TI, com ambientes distintos, o que traria mais dados para coleta e comparação.
