A técnica de instrumentação apresentada neste trabalho tem potenciais aplicações em medir outros parâmetros do motor. Como por exemplo, pode-se citar, a medida do desbalanceamento do rotor, onde a força eletromagnética e a deformação do estator são proporcionais ao seu entreferro. Devido ao reduzido tamanho e capacidade de multiplexação em comprimento de onda, outros pontos do estator podem ser medidos e assim determinar a distribuição das forças eletromagnéticas atuantes no motor.

O desenvolvimento de encapsulamento para os sensores de deformação baseados em FBGs permite a medição de grandezas absolutas, o que possibilita a analise da deformação e excentricidade dinâmicas do motor, além de oferecer maior robustez e facilidade de instalação dos sensores. Existe a possibilidade de se estudar a aplicação do sistema sensor na identificação de outras falhas mecânicas e elétricas de máquinas elétricas girantes, com especial interesse em máquinas de grande porte.

Por fim, o desenvolvimento de um programa computacional para automatizar o processo de monitoramento e identificação da falha de barra quebrada e outras falhas identificáveis através da análise da deformação dinâmica do estator da máquina.
