Os índices preditivos de desmame são essenciais para a complementação da avaliação clínica, corroborando para uma melhor previsão do sucesso e ou insucesso do processo de retirada do suporte ventilatório.

A P0,1 traqueal já é uma realidade em muitos ventiladores mecânicos comercializados no Brasil e no mundo, e devido a sua praticidade de mensuração deverá ser cada vez mais utilizada para a prática do desmame ventilatório e para outras finalidades na UTI.

Futuramente, acreditamos que velhos e novos índices possam integrar situações específicas de certas populações, ou seja, para cada grupo distinto de pacientes poderemos ter um índice específico com melhor desempenho no processo de desmame.
