The footage from the only never finished film by our friend, Jörg Kalt, who passed away in 2007, forms the basis of our film. Starting from the portrait of the intersection of Little Italy and Chinatown in NYC and the effect that the images of 1999 and today have on each other, the film poses questions about origins, cuisine, catastrophes, life and death and talks about the eternal search for ' a corner of this earth that we may call our own. In the residential complex of Le Panoramis – built after the studios burned down in 1971 – film images, sounds and dialogues emerge in untimely ways. Hotel guests look composed and stunned in the diffused light of the service provider's glittering cage. A network of beams, pilasters and flutes exposes the proverbial out-of-season chill in the seating.
While everything in the dining room seems under control, nature outside is ready to attack. Through the montage, the different stages, props and backgrounds become equal protagonists in the film, active agents and surfaces alongside the artists. At the same time, their appearance in the darkness of the movie house and in the eye of the viewer is fleeting.
Interrogations already begin in the overheated police car – an existential confrontation ensues over the question of what is a life worth living. Seven characters are trapped in the structures of their lives and various forms of denial live in the same city, drifting to and fro. To escape their private realities, they flee to dream worlds where we join them in the world of "Hysteria".

These are attempts to visually grasp the complex and opaque power structures of the present. The idea for this film format is based on videos from "the weird part of YouTube", where a specific type of video arose on the threshold of scientific theory, political paranoia and fantasy narrative.
