Este estudo demonstrou que a luz azul possui ação antibacteriana em todos os protocolos in vitro testados, mostrando percentuais de inibição acima de 90%, indicando o uso de aplicação da fotoemissão em protocolos nos quais o agente infeccioso esteja em meio líquido rico em nutrientes como forma de otimizar testes de maior complexidade subsequentes. O teste de resistência mostrou que a luz azul pode induzir resistência em diferentes graus dependendo da bactéria analisada, sendo que entre as espécies estudadas a bactéria Escherichia coli mostrou a maior capacidade de desenvolver resistência.
