Theoretical and Practical Implications

No documento Angelica Patel da Rosa.pdf - Univali (páginas 106-125)

Concerning the theoretical implications, the results of this research focused on identifying the influence of networks and its transitions as a means to access the foreign market quickly from pre stages of international operations. Therefore, the networks transitions are considered a relevant contribution to IB theories. Specifically, to theories

94 that deal with pre-entry and post-entry as well as the overall speed in accessing international markets. The contribution is within the discussion that fast access to the international market is intrinsically related to networks established in the pre-stage of the BG, but the network transitions that occurs during its development is also influential to sustain growth in the international market.

Lastly, this study makes an empirical contribution by analyzing the influence of networks transitions within the life cycle stages of BGs, since it has not been sufficiently explored empirically in previous studies that analyzes life cycle stages. As highlighted, past research tends to assume the influences of networks mainly through the aspect of internationalization per se, not giving much attention to the relation between the firm’s development and its consequences to the internationalization process. In this sense, this study complements prior works by examining that networks are pivotal for the development of BGs clearly elucidating the implications of networks change in the internationalization from pre venture creation to ongoing stages.
