ABSTRACT

The importance of the environmental education becomes every time larger when it wraps up the participation conscious of the community for a solution, and each one of us has to play a major to accomplish. The sensorial garden linksthe environrnental education to the social inclusion, like a way of contextualize environrnental education for alI, giving stimulus to the visual disabled person in a social life.It has stonemasons that frame a road and the floor and the corridor's width, stonemasons corridor's are appropriate to the people that necessity. The floor guides the visitor where they have to follow, with or without walking stick, in other words, they move the floor for another perception of the atmosphere. The identification sign plants are written in Braille and with appropriate letters and sizes in black on white bottom to the visual disabled person. This study was accomplished in June from 2005 to June 2006 at Educandário São José Operário, where the first time we made the recognition of the area. The garden needed an intervention that was possible to tum it appropriate with the users' needs. It was necessary cultural treatments also making a clean. T~ming over the soil well, leveling, preparing holes and stonemasons, using organic fertilizer for the recovery plants, emphasizing the maintenance needs and preservation. This kind of garden demands appropriate plants to stimulate senses. The pictures were used as a documental registration and they had great importance for the understanding study. During the activities were verified students' behaviors that expressed wish to have relative knowledge to the environrnental subjects and the way that the atmosphere was modified by the mano Also at the end they was make questions to know if the liked and which the most interesting activity and the least one, and was suggested other forms ofwork and study the environment.
