DETERMINATION OF MULTIELEMENTS IN SERUN SAMPLES FROM PATIENTS WITH SICKLE CELL
Since it has been established that these levels in human serum can be used as indicators of several pathological conditions, the simultaneous detection of certain elements in serum provides a very interesting approach to the diagnosis and treatment of various diseases. Instead of being flexible and disc-shaped, these cells are more rigid and curved in the shape of the old farming tool known as a sickle (which is where the disease gets its name). All serum samples had been collected from people living in the urban area of Rio de Janeiro City/Brazil.
The t-test (α= 0.05) was used to verify differences in elemental concentrations between the patient group (SCA) and the control group (CG).
TXRF ANALYSIS OF LOW Z ELEMENTS IN SERUM OF PATIENTES WITH IDIOPATHIC
THROMBOCYTOPENIC PURPURA BY SYNCHROTRON RADIATION
Prostate cancer (PCa) is one of the leading causes of disease and death worldwide. SRTXRF analyzes were performed at the X-ray fluorescence beamline at the Brazilian National Laboratory for Synchrotron Light (LNLS). It was possible to determine the concentrations of the following elements: P, S, K, Ca, Fe, Cu, Zn, Br and Rb.

DETERMINATION OF LOW Z ELEMENTS IN SERUM OF PATIENTS WITH LEUKEMIAS BY SYNCHROTRON
Aplicação de fluorescência de raios X com radiação síncrotron e ferramentas quimiométricas em análises químicas de amostras de solo da Antártica marítima. Após a trituração, as amostras foram prensadas em comprimidos finos, que foram utilizados na análise de fluorescência de raios X por radiação síncrotron (SR-XRF). Os sinais obtidos por SR-XRF foram processados com duas ferramentas quimiométricas: PCA (análise de componentes principais) e PARAFAC (análise fatorial paralela).Usando PCA, pode-se observar uma clara diferença entre as amostras de solo de acordo com o local de coleta.
Amostras de solo coletadas próximas aos reservatórios de petróleo da EACF foram caracterizadas pela presença de Cr, enquanto amostras distantes da estação foram caracterizadas pela presença de Fe, V e Cu.

Coffee is one of the most important crops in Brazil, responsible for approximately 25% of the world's production of this commodity. Therefore, a lot of effort has been continuously made to improve the efficiency of the Brazilian coffee production sector, especially by solving the phytosanitary problems caused by nematodes such as Meloidogyne exigua Goeldi. A sterile mixture of sand, soil and cow manure was sown with seeds of coffee plants sensitive and resistant to M.
Analyzes of NMR data using the Chenomx Suit 6.0 software resulted in the identification and quantification of ten substances: L-alanine, 4-aminobutyric acid, chlorogenic acid, choline, formic acid, fumaric acid, D-glucose, quinic acid, D-sucrose and trigonelline.

Quantificação de metais pesados presentes em partículas na cidade de Limeira (SP) por SR-TXRF. A preocupação de políticos, cientistas e da sociedade em geral com a qualidade do ar tem crescido nos últimos anos. Dentre os poluentes ambientais, o material particulado é um dos mais significativos e preocupantes devido à sua emissão por diversas fontes e à heterogeneidade de sua composição.
Para preparar as amostras, os filtros contendo partículas foram submetidos a um processo de remoção de ácido e posteriormente analisados por SR-TXRF.

This is related to the influence of the polymer shells on the stiffness of the membrane. The Z-potential is related to the surface charge of the particles, caused by the different types of cover. A crystallite size of 113 nm (at room temperature) was deduced from the Bragg peak linewidth.
Also, the thermal evolution of the peak position shows that the interplanar distance decreases slightly from 5.65 nm at 22 C down to 5.60 nm just before the line disappears.

Mesoporous silica is a material with walls made of silica and pores in the size range 2-50 nm. Approximations in the model enable a factorization of the scattering intensity into contributions from the shape factor and the structure factor, which means that these two contributions can be modeled separately. For a correct description of the diffraction peaks, corrections for the instrumental smearing of the peaks were included in the program routine using resolution functions.
As will be shown, analysis of the data shows that at the beginning of the synthesis there were only small changes over time and no meso-ordering was observed.

In this work, nanostructured mullite (3Al2O3.2SiO2) was prepared by a sol-gel process coupled with a surfactant self-assembly approach. A systematic study of the influence of sol-gel precursors and reaction products on the liquid crystal structure was carried out by SAXS in the D11A-SAXS1 beam, using an irradiation wavelength λ= 1.488.

INVESTIGATION OF NANOSTRUCTURE AND PROPERTIES OF SOL-GEL DERIVED ZIRCONIUM
For the 2.25Cr−1Mo steel, even after 100 hours of treatment, the presence of molybdenum-rich carbide M23C6 was observed. The glass transition temperature of the nanocomposites was evaluated by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and the thermal stability was investigated by thermogravimetric studies (TGA). As expected, the presence of clay increased the glass transition temperature in all systems studied.
The aim of this work is to develop catalysts for the hydrogenolysis of glycerol for the production of EG as part of the LNLS industrial collaboration.
XRD STUDIES OF ENGINEERING MATERIALS USING THERMOMECHANICAL SIMULATOR
The microstructure of the stirring zone (SZ) presented F, M-A constituent and degenerate upper bainite (DUB). This work presents the status of the high-energy resolving system currently being deployed in the XRF beamline of the LNLS. The module was tested many times with a conventional X-ray tube and then mounted in the beamline to be used as a routine experiment of the line.
The results indicate an obvious significant improvement in the energy resolution of the high resolution system compared to a conventional energy dispersive system.

THE ZINC DISTRIBUTION IN PROSTATE TISSUES BY µSRXRF
The main symptoms of citrus greening are yellowing of the leaves and the production of small and misshapen fruits. The information obtained with the help of. XAFS2 was planned with a view to maximizing the photon flux incident on the sample position. The higher signal-to-noise ratio allows EXAFS scans up to higher wavenumbers, improving the spatial resolution of the technique.
These measurements made it possible to calculate the radius of gyration (Rg), evaluated in real space using the pair distribution function, P(r).
