I t pr ov ides infor m at ion fr om it s concept t o v ar ied for m s of clinical or sur gical t r eat m ent , pr esent ed w it h a w ide discussion and based on updat ed dat a fr om t he m edical lit er at ur e. This allow s r eader s t o br oaden t heir k now ledge on an issue t hat is quit e oft en t r eat ed super ficially ( w it h apologies for t he r edundancy ) in specific publicat ions about v ascular diseases, w het her t ex t book s or ar t icles.

Ther efor e, super ficial t hr om bophlebit is is giv en a sim ilar st at us t han it s half sist er , deep v enous t hr om bosis, since it can also cause pulm onar y em bolism in consider able r at es, besides r equir ing, accor ding t o each case, t he pat ient t o be ant icoagulat ed for v ar iable t im e. I t should also be st r essed t hat t his disease can be a w ar ning sign and it s occur r ence can indicat e concom it ance of ot her m or bidit ies ( t hr om bophilias, infect ions, neoplasm s, et c. ) .

Reading of t hat ar t icle by v ascular sur geons and angiologist s w ill cer t ainly incr ease t heir r esour ces t o bet t er diagnose t he disease it self and it s sev er al causes, in addit ion t o allow ing for est ablishm ent of t he m ost adequat e conduct for an efficacious t r eat m ent .
