Laboratory and Informatic Skills:
Experience in most of the basic molecular biology and microbiology methods, such as PCR, DNA extraction and purification, DNA electrophoresis, cloning, protein expression and purification, analytical biochemistry and bacteria culture (aerobic and anaerobic). Also have experience in bioinformatics analysis and genome annotation (Artemis).
Area of scientific activity - Mechanisms of resistance to heavy metals in sulphate reducing bacteria with potential biotechnological application. Biochemical, spectroscopic and functional characterization of proteins involved in arsenic detoxification. Study of the regulation mechanisms of arsenic resistance operons as well as of operons involved in arsenic methylation.
