The church encourages & invites all who are ill, who are to undergo surgery, or who are confined to their home due to illness to be prayed over & anointed with sacred oil. This can take place at Mass, at home or at the hospital. Please do not wait for the last moment for yourself or a loved one to be anointed. Please speak to a priest to schedule an anoint-ing.

No Ano Santo da Misericórdia, vamos explorar o tema da Misericórdia Divina a partir

do Evangelho segundo S. Lucas, também conhecido como o Evangelho da Misericórdia.

Depois de uma breve introdução ao Evangelho de S. Lucas, iremos, ao longo das cinco

semanas seguintes, refletir sobre passagens de S. Lucas que nos convidam a aprofundar

o mistério de um Deus cujo nome é Misericórdia. Cada sessão terá a duração de 1h, e

incluirá uma breve exposição sobre a passagem evangélica proposta para a sessão, ao

qual se seguirá um tempo de partilha e diálogo. Este tempo de formação é aberto a

Pastoral Council News

The results of the recent Pastoral Council election are as follows: David Almas,

Agostinho Bairos, Steve Melo, Amelia Silva & Elsa Tavares. These represent elected and

appointed members, which are added at the discretion of the pastor. New members to the

council from the Brazilian Community are Wellington Correia & Jaciara Rodrigues. I

thank them for accepting to be members of the PPC. There will be a commissioning

cer-emony at the Masses in the near future. Thank you for your participation in the election.

The outgoing members Inês Achadinha, Conceição Correia, Tony Felicio, Creuza Lisboa,

& Manuel Santos. Sincere thanks for your commitment to the parish by your these past

years of service on the council.

The In-Pew process of the Catholic Appeal took place on March 5th. If you have not yet made your pledge

you may do so online or by completing an in-pew envelope form available at the bank of the church. See

When a parish achieves this amount it receives a rebate. If it doesn’t, it must make up the assessed

From the 2015 Catholic Appeal we have received to date a total of $ 5,947 in rebates. Because we

sur-passed our donor goal as well as the assessment we will receive an additional 5% in our final rebate check.

Palm Sunday of the Lord’s Passion (Cycle C)

What is written about Me is coming to fulfillment,"

Jesus says in today's Gospel (see Luke 22:37).

In-deed, we have reached the climax of the liturgical

year, the highest peak of salvation history, when all

that has been anticipated and promised is to be

ful-filled. By the close of today's long Gospel, the work

of our redemption will have been accomplished, the

new covenant will be written in the blood of His

bro-ken body hanging on the cross at the place called the

Skull.

In His Passion, Jesus is "counted among the wicked,"

as Isaiah had foretold (see Isaiah 53:12). He is

re-vealed definitively as the Suffering Servant the

prophet announced, the long-awaited Messiah whose

words of obedience and faith ring out in today's First

Reading and Psalm. The taunts and torments we hear

in these two readings punctuate the Gospel as Jesus

is beaten and mocked (see Luke 22:63-65;

23:10-11,16), as His hands and feet are pierced (see Luke

23:33), as enemies gamble for His clothes ( see Luke

23:34), and as three times they dare Him to prove His

divinity by saving Himself from suffering (see Luke

23:35,37,39)

He remains faithful to God's will to the end, does not

turn back in His trial. He gives Himself freely to His

torturers, confident that, as He speaks in today's First

Reading: "The Lord God is My help...I shall not be

put to shame." Destined to sin and death as children

of Adam's disobedience, we have been set free for

holiness and life by Christ's perfect obedience to the

Father's will (see Romans 5:12-14,17-19; Ephesians

2:2; 5:6). This is why God greatly exalted Him. This

is why we have salvation in His Name. Following

When Fr. Tom Macdonald walks through the streets of Dorchester,

people don’t see just a young friendly face. They see a priest.

It’s been three years since Fr. Tom was ordained a priest of the

Archdiocese of Boston. Yet in that short time, he has become

a trusted and respected friend, neighbor, and priest at the

St. Ann/St. Brendan parish collaborative. “Many of the good

people in these close-knit communities have seen so much

more of life than I have,” says Fr. Tom, “but it’s their faith in the

priesthood, their faith in the Church, and their faith in Christ that

enables them to see Christ in me. It is a beautiful gift that I feel

blessed to receive new again each day.”
